MEDLAC Instrument & Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Director: Hideki Ogawa) has conducted an independent survey to understand the evaluation criteria of domestic physicians regarding the technical specifications of overseas multi-wavelength laser devices and their information needs when selecting equipment, and is now publishing the results.

## Background of the Survey

In the medical field, laser devices with diverse technical specifications, such as wavelength configuration, irradiation frequency, and pulse width, are available. When domestic medical professionals consider introducing overseas laser devices, there is little systematically surveyed information on how much these differences in technical specifications are emphasized and what information they refer to for selection. As a provider of information on overseas medical devices, our company conducted this survey with the aim of understanding the importance of technical specifications and the actual methods of obtaining information in domestic physicians' equipment selection, and to provide data that contributes to the establishment of a more appropriate information environment.

## Overview of Survey Results

This survey verified and analyzed the following three items:

- ① Survey on technical specification items emphasized during equipment selection
Face-to-face interviews were conducted with domestic clinic physicians who have experience introducing or considering introducing overseas laser devices, focusing on technical specification items (types and number of wavelengths, irradiation frequency, pulse width, etc.) that they prioritize when selecting equipment.
As a result, data on the importance of each technical specification item in equipment selection was obtained.

- ② Survey on information needs for multi-wavelength compatible devices
A questionnaire was conducted to understand what kind of information domestic physicians seek regarding multi-wavelength compatible laser devices equipped with multiple wavelengths (e.g., needs for objective specification data regarding the number of wavelengths, output balance of each wavelength, etc.).
As a result, data on the trends in information needs for multi-wavelength compatible devices was obtained.

- ③ Interview on awareness of technical specifications for Ishtar Trinity MODEL T, etc.
Based on MDSAP-compliant manufacturing data disclosed from Taiwan, interviews were conducted to understand the awareness of domestic physicians regarding the technical specifications of overseas multi-wavelength laser devices such as "Ishtar Trinity MODEL T." Our independent survey objectively confirmed from public documents that this device has a 4-wavelength configuration of 755nm/808nm/940nm/1064nm and a maximum irradiation frequency of 20Hz. As a result, data on domestic physicians' awareness of these technical specifications was obtained. Please note that the above is an objective confirmation of the technical specifications described in public documents and does not assert specific effects or efficacy.

## Future Outlook

Since its establishment in 2019, our company has continuously interviewed domestic physicians regarding their needs for overseas medical devices. This survey is part of that accumulation, initiated by a request from a Taiwanese corporation regarding MDSAP-certified devices, and involved collecting and analyzing physicians' voices on selection criteria and information needs in the multi-wavelength laser device field. For detailed analysis results of each survey item, please contact our company. Our company will continue to work towards improving the transparency of information regarding overseas medical devices through the accumulation and publication of objective data.
