MEDLAC, Inc. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Hideki Ogawa) conducted an independent survey to understand the actual conditions of introducing overseas body shaping equipment and the technical challenges in operation, and announces the results.
Background of the Survey
In recent years, the use of overseas equipment in domestic medical institutions has been increasing in the medical and body shaping fields.
On the other hand, information regarding the background of introducing such equipment and technical challenges in actual operation (differences in power supply environments, operational stability of the equipment, etc.) is currently not systematically organized and published.
As an information provider of overseas medical devices, our company conducted this survey with the aim of grasping what kind of information needs and technical challenges domestic doctors have when introducing and operating overseas equipment, and providing it as objective data.
Summary of Survey Results
In this survey, we verified and analyzed the following three items.
1. Survey on the background of introducing overseas body shaping equipment
We conducted face-to-face interviews with domestic clinics that have introduced (or considered introducing) overseas body shaping equipment regarding what information they referred to when selecting the equipment.
As a result, data was obtained on the trends in information sources regarding the introduction background.
2. Survey on technical challenges in operation
We conducted a questionnaire regarding operational evaluations on technical challenges (differences between Japan's commercial power supply 100V/200V and overseas power specifications, etc.) that occurred when operating overseas-specification body shaping equipment (including overseas equipment such as Tesla Sculpture) in Japan.
As a result, data on technical challenges in domestic operations was obtained.
3. Hearing on the awareness of the manufacturer's quality control system (MDSAP certification, etc.)
Based on MDSAP-compliant manufacturing data disclosed from Taiwan, we interviewed domestic doctors about their awareness of the quality control certifications (MDSAP: Medical Device Single Audit Program, etc.) obtained by manufacturers of overseas body shaping equipment.
As a result, data was obtained on the awareness of domestic doctors regarding the quality control systems of manufacturers.
Future Prospects
Since our founding in 2019, our company has continuously listened to the needs of domestic doctors regarding overseas medical devices.
As part of that accumulation, this survey was triggered by a research request from a Taiwanese corporation regarding an MDSAP-certified device, and collected and analyzed the voices of doctors regarding the actual state of domestic introduction and technical challenges in operation in the body shaping field.
Please contact us for detailed analysis results of each survey item.
Through the accumulation and publication of objective data, our company will continue to work on improving the transparency of information regarding overseas medical devices.
