97th Session Speaker: Dr. Gunsho Kasahara (Hospital Director, National Center for Child Health and Development)

The medical information magazine "Gekkan Shuchu" (B5 size, published on the 1st of each month with a circulation of 50,000 copies), launched in 2008, provides medical information useful for hospital management to hospital managers and doctors, covering topics such as health administration, pharmaceuticals, and trends in medical equipment companies. Furthermore, our company hosts a regular study group called "The Society to Consider the Future of Japanese Healthcare" (hereinafter referred to as "Future Society"), where members of the National Diet, hospital managers, and executives of medical-related companies gather monthly to discuss various issues facing Japanese healthcare, exchanging information on monthly themes (medical professionals participate free of charge / approximately 2,500 registered members as of January 2026).

[Theme] Japan's Pioneering Pediatric Liver Transplants and the Future of Transplant Medicine

[Speaker] Dr. Gunsho Kasahara, Hospital Director, National Center for Child Health and Development Dr. Kasahara, renowned for his world-class surgical volume and high survival rates in pediatric living donor liver transplantation, built the liver transplant program at his center from scratch, elevating Japan's liver transplant system to international standards. In this lecture, he will discuss Japan's unique journey in transplant medicine, given the limited availability of deceased donors, and propose a sustainable system for an era of declining birth rates. He will also present Japan's international initiatives, such as overseas training and medical support.
