In fact, what is happening in Asia right now? According to a Japan Foundation survey, the number of Japanese learners in Asia reached a record high of 3.16 million in 2024. The biggest motivation for this is "love for Japanese anime and manga." Young people in Vietnam, university students in India, and high school students in Bangladesh are falling in love with Japanese content and starting to learn Japanese.

We want to break down that barrier with the power of anime.

The reasons learners give up midway are simple: textbooks are boring, there are no opportunities to use the language in practice, and learning isn't connected to their favorite content. When these three factors align, people stop learning.
TalkFun Japan solves all three of these problems with anime. You won't get bored because you learn with lines from your favorite characters. The interactive design gives you a real sense that what you've learned can be used in actual conversation. The background to the birth of this service comes from the realities we've felt while working with young engineers from various Asian countries. Everyone loves Japanese content and wants to learn Japanese, but there's no system to help them continue. Our mission is to bridge that gap.
■ Starting from Vietnam, connecting with creator fans across Asia
The first step in our Asian expansion is Vietnam. It's the market where the three conditions of high enthusiasm for Japanese learning, widespread digital culture including TikTok, and deep familiarity with Japanese anime and manga are most aligned. We began full-scale local activities in March 2026.
In the next phase, we will expand to India, Nepal, and Bangladesh, where English is an auxiliary official language. Interest in Japanese content is rapidly increasing in all these regions, and demand for TalkFun Japan is expected.
While optimizing for each country's culture, we will build a "learning ecosystem" that combines learning services and information dissemination. On our official blog "note," foreign members will share the appeal of Japanese language, Japanese culture, and IT, creating a community space that goes beyond just a learning tool.
