The Japan Medical Association is a private academic professional organization with approximately 174,000 members (as of December 1, 2022). The association was founded in 1916 by Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato and others, and was recognized as an incorporated association in 1947 and as a public interest incorporated association in 2013. It engages in a wide range of activities, including the elevation of medical ethics, improvement of medical education, comprehensive progress of medicine and related sciences, and lifelong education.
