The Moriya Factory, the mother factory of Mayekawa Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shin Maekawa; hereinafter "the Company")—a manufacturer and seller of various industrial machinery, including industrial refrigerators with a global market share of over 40%, and a provider of plant design and construction—has been certified by Ibaraki Prefecture (Governor: Kazuhiko Oigawa) as a "FY2025 Ibaraki Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Business" in recognition of its health and productivity management initiatives.

What is the "Ibaraki Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Business Site" certification system?

Ibaraki Prefecture is working on the "Ibaraki Healthy Life Expectancy No. 1 Project," aiming to achieve the longest healthy life expectancy in Japan for its residents as part of its goal to become the "prefecture where residents are the happiest in Japan." The "Ibaraki Health and Productivity Management Promotion Business Certification System" was established in fiscal year 2018 as part of this initiative. This system certifies businesses that strategically approach employee health management from a business perspective, with the goal of promoting health among the working generation.

Our Initiatives

To realize our mission of "Service to humanity through corporate activities," we regard health maintenance and promotion as a key management priority and have been implementing our "Health and Productivity Management Policy" since 2023. We view the health of every employee as the foundation for enhancing corporate value and are carrying out various initiatives to promote physical and mental well-being and create a comfortable working environment.

Since beginning operations in Moriya City in 1970, the Moriya Plant has served as a "mother factory" supporting our business with diverse functions, including manufacturing departments for compressors, units, freezers, electrical equipment, and food machinery, as well as a parts center, after-sales service department, technical research institute, and employee training center. With approximately 900 employees, the plant is a priority site for our health and productivity management initiatives.

Promoting exercise opportunities and communication among employees

We distributed a common walking app to company-issued mobile phones and held an event where regional offices competed for the highest average step count over a two-month period. In addition to promoting employee health and fostering cross-departmental interaction and engagement, the initiative has been highly rated by employees as a social contribution activity; for instance, the winning team's average total steps are converted into a donation at a rate of 0.1 yen per step.

The most recent event took place from April to June 2025. The winning team, the Moriya Factory (our mother factory), achieved an average total of 638,006 steps. Accordingly, a donation of 63,800 yen was made to "Egao," a community cafeteria in Moriya City that opened on December 22, 2025. Other activities include "basketball"...
