Matsuya will host its 'Beauty-Boosting Beer Garden' on the rooftop of its Ginza flagship store from Wednesday, May 20 to Wednesday, September 30. Last year, amid a prolonged heatwave, interest in the beer garden—offering a vacation-like experience in central Tokyo—surged, achieving 112% of the previous year's sales and setting a new record.

This year, the event features a Mexican menu using ingredients such as tacos, salsa, and cactus. Alongside beer, guests can enjoy vibrant cocktails and non-alcoholic 'mocktails' suitable for all. Additionally, lunchtime service will be introduced, available from 12:00 PM on weekends and holidays.

Aligned with the new meteorological term 'Extreme Heat Day' (40°C+), Matsuya Ginza introduces the 'Extreme Heat Day Service.' On days when the Japan Meteorological Association forecasts a high of 37°C or above ('Around Extreme Heat Day') in Chuo Ward, guests visiting the beer garden will receive a complimentary 'one-bite sherbet.'

Moreover, daytime operations during extreme heat place physical strain on staff. To promote hydration and rest breaks and prevent heatstroke, Matsuya will apply FANCL-developed 'temperature-indicating stickers' that visualize body temperature, supporting employee well-being. These measures aim to ensure comfort for both customers and employees during scorching summer days.

[For Customers] New 'Extreme Heat Day Service' Aligned with 40°C+ Classification

(Picture is for illustration only)

On April 17, the Japan Meteorological Agency officially named days with temperatures of 40°C or higher as 'Extreme Heat Days.' In response, Matsuya Ginza launches this new service. On days when the Japan Meteorological Association's 'Chuo Ward 3-Hour Forecast' predicts a high of 37°C or above, one 'one-bite sherbet' will be offered free of charge per guest.

This service reflects Matsuya’s desire for guests to enjoy a refreshing and uplifting moment on Ginza’s rooftop, even during the hottest days.

Service Hours | During beer garden period: Weekdays 5–7 PM, Weekends & Holidays 12–7 PM

Condition | Japan Meteorological Association's forecast high temperature of 37°C or above for Chuo Ward on the day

Offer | One 'one-bite sherbet' per guest

[For Employees] Visualizing Body Temperature Rise: FANCL's 'Temperature Indicator Sticker' for Staff Health Support

Pilot Program Limited to August

When the purple design changes to a pink human figure, it indicates rising skin temperature. The figure returns to purple as skin temperature drops.

Matsuya will use FANCL's 'temperature-indicating stickers' to support employee health. Core body temperature, closely linked to heat stress, remains elevated even after breaks, unlike skin temperature, and can lead to health issues.

The sticker begins changing from purple at 34°C skin temperature and turns fully pink at 36°C, as shown. This visual cue allows staff and supervisors to intuitively detect risk and encourage early rest. Data collected during the August 1–31 pilot will be shared with FANCL to improve preventive measures.

Weekends and holidays include lunchtime service

This year, lunchtime service will be available from 12:00 PM on weekends and holidays (with sunshades). This expands access beyond evening use, meeting diverse needs such as shopping, Ginza sightseeing, and daytime drinking under bright sunlight. Guests can leisurely enjoy Mexican BBQ in Ginza’s open-air setting.

Enhanced non-beer drink options, including cocktails made with 'Ginza Honey' harvested locally

Blue Corn Cheese Taco Cocktail/Mocktail

The menu features colorful ingredients such as guacamole and cactus salad. Meats include domestically raised pork from 'Nihonbashi Hiyama,' free-range chicken from 'Butcher Gyuzo,' sausages from 'Romaia,' and the finale 'Blue Corn Cheese Taco.'

Drinks include beer, original cocktails using 'Ginza Honey' harvested in Ginza, and non-alcoholic mojitos and other mocktails, creating an inclusive lineup for both drinkers and non-drinkers.
