It has been 10 years since Rei Kurahashi began her journey as an illustrator and picture book author. What Rei Kurahashi draws are nostalgic and warm stories featuring small children and cats as protagonists. Her unique colors, reminiscent of old foreign picture books, and delicately layered hues. Just by gazing at a single illustration, the story before and after it naturally begins to move, overflowing with mysterious charm. Each of her works is imbued with magic hidden in the casual moments of everyday life, shining in various ways like jewels. This exhibition, held at Matsuya Ginza to commemorate her 10th anniversary, will introduce illustrations using keywords from A to Z as a starting point, delving deeply into her world. Within the venue, various features are prepared to immerse visitors in her charm, such as life-sized photo spots, costume displays recreating attire from her works, introductions to the picture books she has created, and a video space that expands the world of her illustrations. To allow adult visitors to also experience the perspective of children and cats, no specific route is set. Wandering freely without a map in a place like a secret garden, even "getting lost" in Rei Kurahashi's world becomes a story in itself. The past 10 years and the stories yet to come. Rei Kurahashi

Illustrator / Picture Book Author. Active in cover illustrations and inserts for magazines and books. Specializes in the world of retro foreign picture books and unique color schemes, and has worked on many illustrations for fabrics, calendars, stationery, sweets, and various goods. She lives in Gifu Prefecture with 5 cats.
