Matilda Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Yuka Maruyama, hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), whose mission is to "create a society where children can be innocent," has launched a three-part parent-child food and agriculture project in collaboration with Kagome Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kagome").
This project is an initiative to allow busy urban parents and children to experience the joy of touching soil, growing vegetables, cooking, and eating them, all while staying in the city center. As the first session, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, spring vegetables were harvested and planted, and a cooking experience was held at the "Agrisu Seijo" farm in Setagaya Ward.
## First, touch the soil in the heart of the city and experience the origins of "food" with your children.
This first session, themed "Spring Farm Debut! Plant Your Own Seedlings!", saw parents and children challenge themselves with farm work.
On the day, it was impressive to see children, who rarely have the opportunity to touch soil, stepping onto the farm with great curiosity. They harvested fully grown komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), chingensai (bok choy), and lettuce with their own hands, feeling the substantial weight of the vegetables. Exclamations of "Wow!" echoed here and there under the blue sky.
Furthermore, during the planting of mizuna and radishes, they diligently sowed seeds with their small hands and placed name tags with their names written on them in the field, deepening their affection for "the vegetables they will grow themselves." They plan to harvest the vegetables they planted during the second experience in May.
## Experience cooking freshly picked vegetables and Kagome's "Vegicheck®"!
After the farm work, parents and children enjoyed making "vegetable smoothies" and "original hamburgers" using the green vegetables they had just harvested. The experience of cooking and eating freshly picked vegetables on the spot seemed to be a fresh surprise for the children, and smiles were seen everywhere as they heartily munched.
Additionally, as a special content from Kagome, all participants tried "Vegicheck®," which measures vegetable intake levels by simply placing a palm on a sensor. Many children eagerly said, "I'm going to eat a lot of vegetables and raise my score by the next measurement!" An "observation diary set" and a "bookmark" were also distributed to the children, allowing them to observe and record the growth of vegetables through the three experiences. They freely enjoyed recording, such as drawing pictures and pasting photos taken with an instant camera at the farm.
## Upcoming Schedule
This program will be a continuous experience over three sessions. Applications and lotteries have already closed, but please feel free to contact us for media coverage inquiries.
- 2nd session (scheduled for May 16): First harvest of my own vegetables and a bento-making picnic
- 3rd session (scheduled for July 4): Harvest festival! Summer vegetable curry party with everyone
## Project Background: Content for parents and children to experience "beyond" the dining table.
Matilda was born as a takeout service delivering daily dinners, with the mission of "creating a society where children can be innocent." While connecting with many families and children every day, we began to think, "We want to make not only mealtime but also the daily life around it more enjoyable and richer."
Knowing the process until delicious meals are made, meeting local nature and people, and having conversations between parents and children through experiences. We believe that within such times lie the triggers for children to become interested in society and the exciting "seeds" of curiosity.
This project was realized through partnerships with Kagome, Agrisu Seijo, and Lovegraph, who resonated with Matilda's vision. Matilda will continue to deliver content that makes children's daily lives a little more enjoyable, not just through "daily dinners."
## About Matilda
Matilda's dinner service offers over 800 types of menus, including seasonal event menus and menus that provide opportunities to learn about different cultures and social issues in other countries, offering "food experiences as content" that lead to children saying "fun!" and "I want to eat that!". Furthermore, all experiences, such as picking up meals at Matilda stations, communicating with station staff, conversations at the dinner table sparked by handouts, and memories of participating in projects, are believed to lead to the realization of the mission to "create a society where children can be innocent."
All orders are completed via LINE, and daily home-cooked meals can be received at a frequency and quantity tailored to each family. Same-day orders are also accepted with limited quantities from 7:00 to 13:00 each day, and can be easily used for a single meal.
