Maruyu Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-15-35 Minamigaoka, Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture; Representative Director: Makomichi Hirooka) operates "Yakiniku Wakashiya," a yakiniku restaurant with an unprecedented new concept of "boiling meat" instead of "grilling meat." From April 4, 2026, the restaurant will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Campfire, Japan's largest crowdfunding platform, to raise funds for store renovations.
■Background and Purpose of the Project
Maruyu Co., Ltd. was established in 1959 and has since provided safe, secure, and high-quality fresh meat to the local community, while also operating its directly managed yakiniku restaurant, "Yakiniku Maruyu." However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the yakiniku restaurant was forced to close.
Afterward, we received numerous requests from many local customers for a reopening. Encouraged by these voices, we have decided to renew and reopen the yakiniku restaurant as "Yakiniku Wakashiya" with a new concept and name on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. However, due to the need for equipment investment, such as repairing damaged plumbing facilities and replacing the store signboard during the several years of closure, we will utilize Campfire's platform to raise investment funds and expand awareness of the new concept yakiniku restaurant, "Yakiniku Wakashiya."
■Features of "Yakiniku Wakashiya"

Charcoal-grilled yakiniku is the most popular yakiniku in Japan. However, meat grilled over charcoal is directly exposed to high temperatures, which can break down the cell membranes, causing many of the umami components within the cells to leak out.
At Wakashiya, by using an original special plate, we avoid exposing the meat to high temperatures. Instead, we slowly and thoroughly heat the meat from the inside at a relatively low temperature, boiling it to seal in its original umami components. This results in a new, unprecedented deliciousness different from charcoal-grilled yakiniku.
Meat finished with the boiling technique, even if it appears red and rare, is thoroughly cooked through to the inside, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind. It is ideal for those who prefer meat in a rare, reddish state.
While the meat itself is deliciously prepared, offal such as liver and heart are finished with a taste that overturns conventional wisdom. Please enjoy this new yakiniku experience.
Finally, at "Yakiniku Wakashiya," we plan to offer our original brand beef, "Bisuigyu," which is raised at our contracted ranch, in limited quantities. Compared to famous brand beef such as Kobe beef and Omi beef, its fat melting point is even lower, so you can enjoy delicious beef to your heart's content without feeling heavy in your stomach.
