MARU Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Daikanyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshisa Nishino) will open Tsuki no Usagi Kichijoji store on July 11, 2026 (Sat) at 1F Rengakan Mall, 1-8-5 Kichijoji Honcho, Musashino-shi, Tokyo 180-0004.
'Tsuki no Usagi' is an Imagawayaki specialty store that has seen many customers visit since its opening at its pre-opening location, selling approximately 2,000 Imagawayaki per day.
With wait times sometimes reaching up to 90 minutes, it is popular among customers seeking freshly baked, fragrant Imagawayaki.
[The reason it's chosen by many customers is the balance between the bean paste and the dough]
'Tsuki no Usagi' Imagawayaki is a freshly baked Japanese sweet that emphasizes the balance between the bean paste and the dough.
Especially since the bean paste is the star, the bean paste used is from Kinoan, a long-established bean paste maker that was highly praised on TBS's "Matsuko's Unknown World."
We use 100% Hokkaido-grown azuki beans, focusing on flavor, aroma, and good texture, to create a bean paste with an elegant sweetness that brings out the original taste of the beans.
It is characterized by a deep flavor that allows you to fully appreciate the deliciousness of the ingredients, finished carefully in one of Japan's few direct-flame copper kettles.
[Commitment to Sugar]
The sugar used is "Onizarato." Onizarato is the highest grade among zarame sugars and has won the Monde Selection Gold Award for three consecutive years. Onizarato is a high-purity white zarame sugar, refined to 99.9% sucrose, by removing impurities and minerals to the limit from sucrose, the natural sweetness component stored in plants such as sugarcane and sugar beets.
As the refinement of sucrose, the component of sugar, is repeated, sucrose molecules bond together, resulting in larger sugar crystals. By using "Onizarato," a highly transparent, highest purity white zarame sugar refined to an average particle size of 3.7 mm, we pursue a refreshing sweetness that cannot be obtained with ordinary sugar.
No preservatives or artificial colors: safe and secure with additive-free manufacturing.
The sight of it being baked on-site allows customers to feel the charm of freshly baked goods, making it a place they want to stop by while shopping.
