Marelli Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Electronics Business in Guangzhou Plant, Strengthening Status as a Global Innovation Hub

Marelli, a global automotive technology supplier, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its electronics manufacturing plant in Guangzhou, China, marking an important milestone that symbolizes its development as a global hub for innovation and smart manufacturing in automotive electronics. Established in 1996 as Marelli's first manufacturing base in China, the Guangzhou plant has now grown into a core hub for Marelli's electronics business, increasing its strategic importance in both the Chinese market and global operations. Over the past 30 years, the Guangzhou plant has evolved from a small-scale operation with over 100 employees and a single production line into a large-scale production base for automotive electronics. It has now expanded to a site area of 30,000 square meters, with approximately 1,000 employees and 66 production lines, serving as a benchmark hub for Marelli's China operations, supporting both local and global projects. At the Guangzhou plant, the focus is on the development and mass production of electronic platforms for next-generation vehicles for customers both inside and outside China. While adopting scalable architecture, it also focuses on strengthening competitiveness by utilizing the local supply chain, supporting connectivity and the transition to software-defined vehicles. The Guangzhou plant is a global innovation hub, particularly in advanced display solutions utilizing Mini-LED and MicroLED technologies. Furthermore, it deploys a wide range of major platforms such as body and seat control ECUs, zone control units, digital cockpits, digital meters, and 5G telematics systems. In addition, the Guangzhou plant is operated under an integrated engineering and manufacturing model, supported by a dedicated engineering center holding over 100 patents. Through an innovation-oriented manufacturing model that combines in-house industrialization processes, digitized manufacturing processes, and advanced automation, it ensures speed, flexibility, and consistent quality. Furthermore, it has introduced advanced technologies such as optical bonding technology, precision assembly processes, and a solar power generation system installed throughout the factory to improve production efficiency. This 30th anniversary is not just a milestone, but a new starting point for future growth. With a solid foundation in automotive electronics technology and advanced manufacturing, the Guangzhou plant is expected to further strengthen its position as a strategic hub within Marelli's global network and lead the future of connected, smart, and sustainable mobility.
