Shobunsha Holdings, Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Shigeo Kuroda; Tokyo Stock Exchange Code: 9475; hereinafter "Shobunsha Holdings"), Shobunsha Publications, Inc. (Head Office: Same as above; Representative Director and President: Tetsuya Kawamura; hereinafter "Shobunsha"), and Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (Head Office: Fukushima-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Toshiaki Imamura; hereinafter "Asahi Broadcasting TV") announce that on April 1st, they signed a basic agreement to promote a joint regional revitalization project (hereinafter "this initiative") based on the regional revitalization solutions developed by Asahi Broadcasting TV and the services and media operated by Shobunsha.
This collaboration aims to create new value for local governments and DMOs (Destination Marketing/Management Organizations) nationwide by combining Shobunsha's newly inherited historical entertainment brand "Rekishijin" and media/brands derived from its long-selling guidebook series such as "Mapple" and "Cotrip," with Asahi Broadcasting TV's extensive regional network and communication capabilities.
## Background and Purpose of This Agreement
As promotion methods for regional revitalization become more complex, local governments and DMOs require multi-faceted media strategies that go beyond single advertising campaigns. In March of this year, Shobunsha acquired assets related to the monthly magazine "Rekishijin" from ABC Arc, a subsidiary of Asahi Broadcasting TV. This added a new genre of history to its existing various media focused on travel and outings, thereby building a foundation for deploying complex information solutions tailored to regional characteristics and customer needs. Meanwhile, Asahi Broadcasting TV, based on its planning and communication power unique to broadcasting media and its information design capabilities, has developed a wide variety of regional solutions, from branding and content creation to attracting visitors and promoting migration/settlement. It has also handled numerous projects utilizing "Rekishijin" to date.
The purpose of this agreement is to integrate the resources of both companies to plan and propose optimal media strategies in response to the needs of local governments, DMOs, and regional businesses, and to establish a comprehensive support system for concrete problem-solving.
## Outline of This Initiative (Collaboration)
Based on the signing of this basic agreement, both companies will jointly consider and promote the following:
- **Consideration and Promotion of Joint Sales and Promotional Activities:** Development of joint sales and promotional activities targeting local governments, DMOs, tourist associations, etc.
- **Planning and Development of New Products and Services:** Planning and development of package products and new services that combine the solutions of Asahi Broadcasting TV and Shobunsha.
- **Strengthening Regional Promotion Strategies:** Planning optimal promotion strategies tailored to regional challenges and considering the strengthening of solutions.
- **Exploration of Joint Business Possibilities:** Discussions by Asahi Broadcasting TV and Shobunsha for further promotion of joint business.
Moving forward, both companies will establish optimal cooperation systems for each individual project and provide highly effective support tailored to regional needs.
## Future Outlook
Starting with this initiative, both companies will combine their unique media and content assets and information dissemination capabilities. They will work towards developing and providing unprecedented regional solutions such as "creation of regional tour packages centered on history" and "promotion measures linked to video and publishing." By redefining the tourism resources held by regions and leveraging their unique strengths, they will promote the creation of sustainable mechanisms that contribute to regional revitalization.
