Traces Questioned in Ransomware Countermeasures Ransomware damage continues to spread, regardless of industry or company size. The National Police Agency's "Threats in Cyberspace in 2025" report reveals the following situation: - Small and medium-sized enterprises, not just large corporations, are targets of attacks. - Attacks are not biased towards specific industries. - Half of the organizations incurred total recovery costs of "10 million yen or more." Furthermore, if logs are not stored properly, not only will it be impossible to comply with audit requirements such as security guidelines, but logs cannot be utilized in forensic investigations in the event of an incident, making it difficult to identify the scope of damage. To prevent such situations, companies are strongly urged to implement measures that not only "prevent attacks" but also "immediately detect damage and minimize its scope." Essential for this is trace data (logs).
Privilege IDs Exploited by Ransomware Ransomware attacks are extremely cunning. Attackers steal IDs with strong privileges (privilege IDs) within a company's IT systems to gain access and leak information. When privilege IDs are stolen, the following attacks can be carried out: - Using privilege IDs to plant malware. - During the dormant period, investigating information that would be fatal if leaked. - After the investigation, executing mass encryption and information leakage. To prevent such damage, strict management of privilege IDs is particularly important.
Low-Cost Privilege ID Management and SIEM Measures to prevent these fatal risks are "strict management of privilege IDs" and "integrated log monitoring (SIEM: Security Information and Event Management)." In the first half of the seminar, Zoho Japan Inc. will explain the importance of privilege ID management and log management in ransomware countermeasures, and introduce the functions of the privilege ID management tool "Password Manager Pro" and the integrated log monitoring tool "Log360" (both products of ManageEngine/Zoho Japan Inc.) with demonstrations. In the second half, Digital Technology Inc., which has implemented these products for actual customers, will present specific case studies on how they solved the challenges faced by their customers. A key feature of both products is their reasonable price, offering the necessary functions while having a unique licensing structure compared to competing products. We encourage those who want to build robust security within a limited budget to participate.
