■ Targeted/CEO fraud emails sophisticated by AI are increasing. Email-based threats show no signs of stopping.
In recent years, emails related to targeted attacks and Business Email Compromise (so-called CEO fraud) have increased, and the damage is expanding. In the 'Top 10 Information Security Threats 2025 [Organization]' published by IPA (Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan), 'Targeted attacks aiming for confidential information' ranked 4th, and 'Business Email Compromise' ranked 9th, making cyberattacks originating from emails a major challenge for business continuity.
Furthermore, with the spread of generative AI in recent years, emails with unnatural Japanese have decreased, and we are in a situation where anyone can create more 'authentic-looking' emails. The difficulty of detecting requests impersonating actual business partners or management (CEO fraud), as well as payment or information extraction instructions disguised as business communications, has risen.
In response to this situation, many companies conduct targeted email training every year. However, the operational burden on the IT department for preparation, distribution, aggregation, and reporting is high, and costs tend to add up. As a result, there are many cases where the training becomes a mere formality, with the 'act of conducting it' becoming the goal itself. In addition, there is the issue of it being difficult to grasp and manage the response status when employees actually report suspicious emails.
■ The barriers of cost, man-hours, and customization: Why conventional email training is insufficient
Many companies and organizations conduct 'email training' for employees as a countermeasure against targeted attack emails. While effective in raising employee awareness and acquiring skills to identify suspicious emails, the significant burden placed on costs and the personnel managing it is a challenge.
Also, a lot of man-hours are required for advance preparation, post-training confirmation, exclusion settings according to the email environment, scenario creation corresponding to sophisticated attacks, and aggregating reception and click statuses. Furthermore, there are many services where content cannot be flexibly customized for different target audiences or where it is difficult to check the training results.
In some cases, additional costs are incurred for advanced training or increased distribution numbers, and the barriers of cost, man-hours, and customization are major factors preventing the continuous implementation of email training.
■ Introducing the operational flow and management points of training realized by 'KIS MailMon', adopted by 150 companies in 3 months (750 companies cumulatively)
In this seminar, we will introduce the targeted attack email training service 'KIS MailMon' as a method that helps reduce costs, lessen the burden on training implementers, and improve employees' security awareness.
KIS MailMon has a track record of being adopted by 150 companies in the three months from January to March 2026 (a cumulative total of 750 companies since its service release in October 2022). It features over 300 types of training scenarios (editable) and the ability to continuously conduct attack email training corresponding to the latest attack methods at all times. Also, as a new feature, it strengthens suspicious email reporting and management. By doing this, it accepts reports from employees and streamlines the tracking and management of the response status, supporting the establishment of a reception desk for reports and operational flows.
In the lecture, we will explain the operational image of the training realized by 'KIS MailMon' and the suspicious email reporting/management functions with a demonstration.
Personnel from companies and organizations who are thinking, 'I want to lower the cost of email training and the operational burden on the implementers,' or 'I want to streamline the response to suspicious email reports,' are highly encouraged to participate.
