Product Overview
A new product has been added to our long-standing standard "Trad" series, which is popular for its various size developments. It is the "Trad-10-Long-Carbon," featuring "10 carbon ribs of 70 cm" and "large size and lightweight."
This umbrella is smart with a slim roll, yet opens up to a large size of about 125 cm in diameter. It is the largest size among Maehara Koei Shoten's products. It provides peace of mind for tall individuals, when carrying large bags, or when accompanied by children.
It also serves excellently as a so-called "doorman's umbrella" to welcome those alighting from cars.
An umbrella combining reassuring size and a beautiful silhouette
The slightly shallower tension gives a stylish and urban atmosphere.
Furthermore, it is a highly usable umbrella that achieves lightweightness with carbon ribs*. While focusing on lightness and size, the beautiful silhouette characteristic of Maehara remains intact.
Please choose from basic color variations.
*Carbon ribs... Ribs made of carbon fiber. They are lightweight, strong against wind, and do not rust, making them easy to maintain.
The total length is about 96 cm. Its closed appearance is also smart. The beautiful curves when the umbrella is opened symbolize good tailoring.
The charm of traditional taste and beautiful tailoring with high skills
The "Trad-10-Long-Carbon" naturally utilizes the Made in Japan Western umbrella manufacturing that Maehara Koei Shoten is particular about.
Traditional oak material is used for the center shaft. The rare domestic wooden center shaft minimizes distortion by laying it down for several years in a square lumber state. From the shaft carved round from there, craftsmen carefully embed fine parts one by one by hand to create the frame.
It is thoroughly sun-dried. A brass "wire spring" is embedded in the center shaft.
Fabric is stretched over the frame created in this way to tailor the umbrella.
Carbon ribs are soft, making it very difficult to apply strong tension to the fabric, requiring skilled techniques. The craftsmen of Maehara Koei Shoten perform cutting, sewing, and finishing on a millimeter scale, creating an umbrella with a beautiful silhouette both when opened and closed without unnecessary wrinkles.
Fine parts are finished by hand sewing. Cutting is the key to the silhouette.
