Survey of 303 Dog Owners! Shion Sakagami Ranks 1st in 'Celebrities Seemingly Particular About Pet Food'

Miyamura Animal Hospital (Location: Edogawa Ward, Director: Takuma Miyamura, https://m-petclinic.com/), where active veterinarians also develop pet food, conducted a survey on pet food targeting 303 dog owners.

In recent years, as interest in dogs' healthy lifespans has grown, awareness regarding daily diet and nutritional management has also changed. Meanwhile, as the types and information on pet food diversify, various trends are observed in how dog owners think about and choose food, including their criteria for selection and the information they refer to.

Therefore, we conducted a survey on pet food among 303 dog owners, and we will now present the results.

*The gender ratio of respondents was 37% male and 63% female. The age groups were 0.7% in their teens, 20.5% in their 20s, 37.3% in their 30s, 27.1% in their 40s, 13.2% in their 50s, and 1.3% in their 60s.

* The most important factor when choosing pet food was 'nutritional balance' with 225 votes. Followed by 'palatability (pet's preference)' with 188 people, and 'suitability for the pet's age and constitution' with 168 people.
* The most common monthly budget for pet food was '3,000 yen to less than 5,000 yen' for 51.5% of respondents.
* The most frequently referenced information when choosing pet food was 'review sites and reviews' with 182 people. Followed by 'manufacturer or brand official websites' with 137 people, and 'SNS' with 76 people.

Shion Sakagami Takes 1st Place as the Celebrity Most Particular About Pet Food

When asked, 'Which celebrities do you think are particular about pet food? (multiple answers allowed)', the results were 1st place 'Shion Sakagami' (150 people), 2nd place 'Shohei Ohtani' (108 people), and 3rd place 'Takuya Kimura' (101 people).

'Nutritional Balance' Most Important When Choosing Pet Food

When asked, 'What do you prioritize when choosing pet food? (multiple answers allowed)', the results were 'nutritional balance' (225 people), 'palatability (pet's preference)' (188 people), and 'suitability for the pet's age and constitution' (168 people).

Monthly Pet Food Budget: '3,000 yen to less than 5,000 yen' Accounts for Over Half at 51.5%

When asked, 'What is your monthly budget for pet food? (choose one)', '3,000 yen to less than 5,000 yen' was the most common at 51.5%.

Following this, '5,000 yen to less than 10,000 yen' was 33.3%, 'less than 3,000 yen' was 7.3%, '10,000 yen to less than 20,000 yen' was 6.9%, and '20,000 yen or more' was 1%.

'Review Sites and Reviews' Most Referenced Information When Choosing Pet Food

When asked, 'What information do you refer to when choosing pet food? (multiple answers allowed)', the results were 'review sites and reviews' (182 people), 'manufacturer or brand official websites' (137 people), and 'SNS' (76 people).

Summary
This time, we conducted a 'Celebrities Seemingly Particular About Pet Food Ranking Survey' targeting 303 dog owners.

Shion Sakagami ranked 1st.
Many responses mentioned his ownership of multiple dogs and his involvement in protection activities, suggesting that his image of managing the diet according to each individual dog's condition contributed to his votes. Voices were also heard indicating a deep love and meticulous care for dogs, based on his daily broadcasts and media presence.

Shohei Ohtani was chosen for 2nd place.
Many cited his high awareness of his own condition management and diet, leading to the image that he also pays attention to his dog's food. His stoic attitude as an athlete and self-management abilities seem to be perceived as extending to pet diet management.

When we surveyed the important points when choosing pet food, 'nutritional balance' was the most common answer with 225 people.

Following this, 'palatability (pet's preference)' was 188 people, and 'suitability for the pet's age and constitution' was 168 people, indicating that choosing food that considers the dog's condition and individual differences is important.
Furthermore, 'price' was 158 people, and 'quality of raw materials and ingredients' was 153 people, suggesting that choices are made with a balance of health, cost, and quality in mind.

When we surveyed the monthly budget for pet food, '3,000 yen to less than 5,000 yen' was the most common result at 51.5%.

Following this, '5,000 yen to less than 10,000 yen' was 33.3%, and 'less than 3,000 yen' was 7.3%, revealing that approximately 90% of the total spend less than 10,000 yen per month.
On the other hand, '10,000 yen to less than 20,000 yen' was 6.9%, and '20,000 yen or more' was 1%, showing a tendency for fewer people to use high-priced food.

When we surveyed the information referred to when choosing pet food, 'review sites and reviews' was the most common result with 182 people.

Following this, 'manufacturer or brand official websites' was 137 people, indicating that food is chosen by checking both actual user evaluations and official information.
Also, 'SNS' was 76 people, 'animal hospital' was 74 people, and 'veterinarian's opinion' was 73 people. While online information such as reviews and SNS ranked high, the opinions of experts like animal hospitals and veterinarians are also referred to by a certain number of people, suggesting that multiple sources of information are combined for decision-making.
