LINE Yahoo Corporation (hereinafter "LINE Yahoo") held a presentation event "LINE 15th Anniversary Event -Connect the Next-" on July 2, 2026, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the launch of its communication app "LINE".

The keynote session looked back on LINE's journey over the past 15 years, connecting people, businesses, municipalities, stores, content, purchases, payments, and various other touchpoints in life, based on LINE's core value of "Connect." It then announced a policy to evolve the connections built by "LINE" over the next 15 years along three axes: "expansion," "deepening," and "optimization," and to further promote "Life on LINE with AI Agent," a life platform that builds various life touchpoints through LINE by utilizing AI agents.

In addition, the company presented a vision to provide experiences that are closer to daily life by connecting the platforms of "LINE," with its 100 million users, and "PayPay," with over 74 million users, through account integration scheduled for the summer of 2026.

Account integration between "LINE" and "PayPay" to begin in Summer 2026

It was announced that account integration between "LINE" and "PayPay" will begin in the summer of 2026.

With account integration, users will be able to send, receive, and split PayPay balances within LINE chat rooms, as well as register for PayPay and check balances and points on LINE. Furthermore, users will be able to see their LINE friends on the PayPay app, enabling smoother balance transfers between friends.

In the future, LINE Points will be integrated into PayPay Points, and the experience of earning and using PayPay Points on LINE services will be gradually expanded.

In each session, multiple initiatives to expand the LINE experience into daily life actions for the next 15 years were explained from the four domains of Information, Shopping, Life, and Talk.

In the Information domain, a concept was introduced to evolve LINE's "Home Tab" into a place where users can discover information and experiences tailored to them from the diverse information available in the world.

Furthermore, the official release of the "Home Tab" renewal, currently in early release, is scheduled for around the summer of 2026. In the future, through collaboration with AI agents, functions such as "My Home Agent" and "Proposer Agent" will be provided to offer personalized information suggestions based on user interests and behavior, including news, weather, information about friends, and the latest updates on favorite artists and content.

In the Shopping domain, LINE's commerce experience, which has grown with "LINE Gift" as its starting point, was explained, and the official release of LINE's "Shopping Tab" in September 2026 was announced.

With the official release of the "Shopping Tab," users will be able to seamlessly discover, compare, consider, purchase, gift, and receive deliveries for over 300 million products handled by LINE Yahoo Group's shopping services within LINE. Furthermore, a new shopping experience unique to LINE will be pursued through initiatives such as early/limited sales of specific products, PayPay Point rewards*1, and customer service experiences provided by AI agents.

*1: The "PayPay Points" awarded in this initiative include some "PayPay Points (Limited Time)" that can only be used on certain LINE Yahoo Group services and the PayPay/PayPay Card official store, and some "PayPay Points (Normal)" that can be used at all PayPay merchants without an expiration date (cannot be withdrawn or transferred).

In the Life domain, a policy was introduced to transform the user and customer experience beyond the connection between companies/stores and users through "LINE Official Accounts" and "LINE Mini Apps."

Furthermore, a concept of "Agentic UX/CX" was announced, where AI will support store searches, reservations, and waiting times based on user situations and needs by linking the "Mini App Tab" with AI agents, autonomously supporting user actions.

In the Talk domain, a concept was explained to expand LINE's chat rooms from a place for conversation to a place that supports actions stemming from conversations.

Additionally, it was announced that a new feature, "Agent i in chat," will be provided within 2026, which allows users to call LINE Yahoo's AI agent service "Agent i" within LINE chat rooms to assist with answering questions and managing tasks.

"Agent i in chat" is a feature that supports answering questions, creating to-do lists, registering calendar events, creating albums, and summarizing messages by calling the AI agent "Agent i" within LINE chat rooms. "Agent i" will organize information within the chat room and support necessary actions, fulfilling a wide variety of user needs within LINE chat rooms, such as daily communication, group schedule coordination, and task management.

Towards the end of the event, new features to make communication on "LINE" more convenient and comfortable were introduced as new initiatives for LINE Yahoo's membership program "LYP Premium."

Four features are scheduled to be offered as new benefits for LYP Premium from autumn 2026 onwards: "Message Editing," which allows editing sent messages within 15 minutes; "Premium Block," which allows users to hide themselves from the other party's friend list; "Message Scheduling," which allows sending messages at a specified date and time; and "Call Recording (tentative name)," which allows recording, video recording, and transcribing LINE calls for saving. These features will be available for early release starting from August 2026 in "LINE Labs," where users can try out new LINE features*2.

*2: During the period when this feature is in "LINE Labs," users other than LYP Premium members will also be able to try out the feature.
