LY Corporation Revamps "LINE Official Account" Verification Badges; Verified Accounts in Japan Standardized to Green Checkmark

LY Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "LY") has today, April 1, 2026, revamped the verification badges for "LINE Official Account" and integrated its account types. In this update, all verified accounts in Japan will be standardized with a green checkmark badge, and display specifications will be updated to create an environment that is easier to understand and safer for users to use.

Background and Purpose of the Update

Previously, "LINE Official Accounts" were represented by star-shaped shield verification badges in green (Premium), navy (Verified), and gray (Unverified). However, the coexistence of multiple badges and the star-shaped shield mark were difficult for users to interpret, and there were cases where unverified accounts were mistaken for verified ones. In light of this, LY has abolished the badges for unverified accounts and the specific "premium" visual expression, improving the display so that users can more easily identify authentic "LINE Official Accounts."

Main Changes

1. Badge Revamp and Account Type Integration

・ Change to familiar "LINE" colors: The design for verified accounts in Japan has been changed from the traditional "star and shield mark" to a more recognizable "green checkmark."

・ Abolishment of Unverified Account Badges: The gray badges previously assigned to unverified accounts will be removed.

・ Integration of Account Types: All accounts that have passed the prescribed screening are now integrated into the "Verified Account" category.

2. Display Updates for Better Recognition of "LINE Official Accounts"

To help users accurately identify "LINE Official Accounts," the following measures are being rolled out sequentially:

・ Displaying LINE ID in Talk Rooms: The "LINE ID" of official accounts is now displayed within the Talk Menu (accessible via the menu button at the top right of the talk room). LINE Official Account IDs always start with "@," making them easier to distinguish.

・ Fixed Response Status for Unverified Accounts: For unverified accounts, the response status displayed at the top of the talk room (under the account name) is now permanently visible.

・ Update to LINE Themes (Scheduled for Spring 2026): Across all LINE Themes, header colors will be differentiated between "LINE Official Accounts" and personal accounts.

3. Abolishment of Authentication Provider Badges

・ Provider authentication information has been changed to "text notation" to avoid confusion with the new badge design. This limits the use of the checkmark verification badge exclusively to "LINE Official Accounts."

The verification badges for "LINE Official Account" will be reborn into a more intuitive, understandable, and secure format. LY Corporation will continue to strive to provide a communication platform where users and companies can connect with peace of mind through functional expansions and UI improvements.
