LINE Yahoo Corporation (hereinafter, LINE Yahoo) has officially launched the digital content billing function for 'LINE Mini App,' which was previously offered to select companies starting July 2025. This means all businesses can now apply online. 'LINE Mini App' is an app platform where businesses can offer their services on 'LINE.' Users can utilize services on 'LINE' without additional app downloads or member registration. Currently, the number of service releases exceeds 30,000, and monthly active users have grown to approximately 20.5 million as of December 2025. Previously, usage was primarily focused on offline areas such as mobile orders and membership cards. However, since last year, the use of 'LINE Mini App' has expanded into digital content fields, including games. Further expansion in online areas such as video and manga is expected. Additionally, from February 2026, the 'Wallet Tab' within 'LINE' will be sequentially revamped to provide a 'Mini App Tab,' aiming to expand user access routes. The digital content billing function, which was previously provided through individual inquiries, has now been changed to a system where applications can be made via the 'LINE Developers Console.' This is expected to allow all businesses to introduce this function more smoothly, shortening the lead time from service planning to implementation. This function allows users to make smooth content purchases and in-game billing using payment information registered on iOS or Android, without switching to other applications like browsers, while using 'LINE Mini App.' Prior to the full-scale launch, during the preliminary provision period, the digital content billing function has been utilized in multiple 'LINE Mini Apps,' mainly in the gaming domain. Among them, Playco, a company providing popular mini-games, has achieved monetization through the sale of digital items without compromising the user experience. For example, Playco's LINE Mini App 'Buruburu Doubutsu' is a social casual game offered on LINE Mini App. It combines attractive virtual pet rearing with exhilarating puzzle games. The number of friends on the LINE Official Account linked to the game has exceeded 6.4 million. Through the LINE Mini App's digital content billing function, users can purchase in-game items and enhancements, providing a richer experience while maintaining the appeal of free-to-play.
