Luvina Software Joint Stock Company (Headquarters: Hanoi, Vietnam; hereinafter: Luvina Software) provides consistent maintenance, functional development, and version upgrade support for the Japanese enterprise ERP 'GRANDIT'.
Luvina Software has a track record of over 14 years and a cumulative total of more than 300 man-months in GRANDIT-related projects, continuously supporting the ERP operations and DX promotion of Japanese companies.
This case study introduces initiatives to support the maintenance of stable operations and continuous functional expansion for companies that have already implemented 'GRANDIT'. Through system maintenance, functional development, and version upgrade support, we assisted in the stable operation and business efficiency of core business systems.
Background of Implementation
GRANDIT is a web-based domestic ERP system developed in Japan, adopted by many companies as an integrated core system that corresponds to the business processes and commercial customs of Japanese enterprises. Its strengths include the ability to manage core business operations such as sales, procurement/inventory, accounting, and HR/payroll in an integrated manner.
On the other hand, in actual operational phases, challenges such as the following often arise:
- Inability to secure sufficient internal resources for bug fixes and performance improvements in active systems.
- Shortage of resources for adding new functions or customization development as the business expands.
- Need for version upgrades and multi-browser support due to the end of Internet Explorer support.
- Increased complexity of source code and decreased maintainability due to years of development.
Given this background, there is a high demand for continuous operational support and development support from partners with specialized knowledge of GRANDIT.
Luvina Software leverages its deep knowledge of GRANDIT and its record of over 21 years in offshore development to provide consistent support from post-implementation maintenance to functional development and system improvement. By utilizing offshore resources, we provide GRANDIT support while optimizing costs compared to domestic development.
Services and Work Content
In this project, we provided a comprehensive service covering the entire system life cycle, including maintenance, new development, version upgrades, migration, and source code standardization for companies using the ERP 'GRANDIT'.
We implemented continuous development and improvement in core business areas such as sales, procurement/inventory, accounting, production, and HR/payroll, aimed at maintaining stable system operations and improving business efficiency.
The main initiatives are as follows:
- Maintenance Services
To address issues such as business logic errors arising from long-term operation or decreased processing speed due to increased data volume, we deployed engineers with business knowledge of GRANDIT and advanced technical skills such as SQL tuning. We conducted investigations and improvements for potential bugs, performance optimization, and integration with external systems to support stable system operation and business efficiency.
- New Development Services
To correspond to the business characteristics of each company, Business Analysis (BA) members conducted requirement interviews and definitions, developing customization and add-on functions that can link with standard ERP-GRANDIT functions. We implemented new functions to enhance business efficiency, such as a transaction function where orders, purchases, and sales slips can be created on the same screen, and a Request for Quote (RFQ) function. Furthermore, we realized system expansion using non-standard technologies, such as report output via SVF and EDI/XML data integration.
- Version Upgrade Services
In preparation for new version support of GRANDIT due to the end of Internet Explorer support, we organized version upgrade rules and supported smooth migration. We realized efficient and high-quality version upgrades using database migration tools, UI modification extraction tools, and test sets.
- Migration Services
For companies that do not require additional functions from new versions, we conducted migration to achieve multi-browser support while keeping costs low. We provided a stable usage environment while leveraging existing systems by performing UI modifications based on essential GRANDIT rules.
- Source Code Standardization Services
For companies expanding the GRANDIT system across multiple subsidiaries, we implemented source code standardization. By separating standard and customized parts, we improved source management efficiency and increased the reuse rate of functions. Furthermore, this led to a significant reduction in smoke test man-hours during development, improving overall system development efficiency across the group.
