Luup Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director CEO: Daiki Okai; hereinafter "Luup") collaborated with Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President Group CEO: Masahiro Koike) and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroaki Shirota) to conduct a safety workshop for electric-assist bicycles and electric kickboards at the "Safe Driving Competition" for bus drivers, hosted by Meitetsu Group Bus Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Shuichi Taki; hereinafter "Meitetsu Group Bus Holdings") on March 26, 2026 (Thursday).
Background
Luup's mission is to "create infrastructure that makes every part of the city feel like a station front," and it has been operating the micromobility sharing service "LUUP" since 2020 to solve mobility issues across Japan through its business. By comprehensively handling electric, compact, single-person mobility, Luup aims to establish first and last-mile transportation options and create a future where everyone can move freely. In Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, service began in May 2023, and the current number of ports exceeds 1,020, with the service being used for daily commutes, school commutes, shopping, and other purposes.
From April 1, 2026 (Wednesday), a traffic violation notification system (the so-called "blue ticket" system) was introduced for certain bicycle traffic violations. In this workshop, we re-explained the traffic rules that should be observed by specified small motorized vehicles (such as electric kickboards), which are already subject to the same system, and by bicycles, to bus drivers. Furthermore, by allowing them to actually test ride and experience the movement and characteristics of each vehicle, the workshop aimed to help them predict dangers and confirm safety on the road while driving a bus. Luup will continue to deepen cooperation with local transportation operators and residents, promoting awareness activities to realize a traffic environment where all road users can coexist safely.

Comment from Mr. Sumiyoshi, Chief of Safety Management Department, Meitetsu Group Bus Holdings
We are very grateful to Luup Inc. for their cooperation in holding this micromobility test ride event. Through the test ride, I felt the ease of moving around the city with an electric kickboard and how it can shorten travel times in congested areas. As a bus operator, this test ride experience allowed us to understand the characteristics of micromobility, and I feel the necessity for even more predictive driving and ensuring sufficient lateral clearance, adopting a mindset of "securing safety by yielding."
