Luup, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Daiki Okai; hereinafter 'Luup') conducted a safety training session for electric-assisted bicycles and electric kickboards in collaboration with Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The session took place at the 'Safe Driving Competition' for bus drivers, organized by Meitetsu Group Bus Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; President: Shuichi Taki).
Background With the mission to 'create an infrastructure that makes the entire city feel like a station front,' Luup has been operating the micro-mobility sharing service 'LUUP' since 2020 to solve transportation challenges across Japan. By comprehensively handling electric, compact, and single-rider mobility options, the company aims to establish first- and last-mile transportation methods, striving for a future where everyone can move freely. In Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, the service launched in May 2023, and with over 1,020 port locations currently, it is used for daily travel such as commuting, schooling, and shopping.
From Wednesday, April 1, 2026, a traffic violation notification system (the so-called 'blue ticket') was introduced for certain bicycle traffic violations. In this training session, we re-explained the traffic rules that must be observed by specified small motorized bicycles (such as electric kickboards) and bicycles, which are already subject to this system, for bus drivers. Furthermore, by having them actually test ride and experience the movements and characteristics of each vehicle, the session aimed to help them predict hazards and confirm safety on the road while driving buses. Luup will continue to deepen cooperation with local transportation operators and citizens, promoting educational activities to realize a traffic environment where all traffic participants can coexist safely.
