LURF GALLERY is pleased to announce the solo exhibition "Natsunari" by Aika Nagano, to be held on the 1st floor.

Aika Nagano has explored an expression in Japanese painting that treats the space traditionally considered "negative space" (yohaku) as light, rendering it as the "ground" of the canvas. She brings to the surface delicate layers of light that capture not only the subjects themselves but also the intangible presence of the surrounding air and the fluctuations of light.

The exhibition title, "Natsunari" (Summer Nearing), refers to the seasonal transition when the presence of summer draws near. This exhibition will feature new works that focus on the seasonal changes and the sense of time hidden within everyday landscapes. We invite you to join us for this special viewing.

STATEMENT

"Natsunari"

Around the time of Grain Rain (Kokuu), I feel the presence of summer.

It feels as though it is drawing near.

In the air warmed by the gentle sunlight, a breeze carrying the scent of damp earth and fresh greenery passes by.

I can feel the seasons slowly shifting in the soft wind that brushes against my cheek.

Even in daily life, there are moments when the slight flicker of light or the humidity in the air makes a familiar landscape look suddenly different.

By turning my gaze toward such subtle changes, I hope to continue observing and painting the landscapes of our days.
