<Biography of Dr. Kazuo Matsushita>

Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University, Senior Fellow at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and President of the Japanese Society for Gross National Happiness (GNH). After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he joined the Environment Agency (now the Ministry of the Environment). He holds a graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. He has held key positions including at the Ministry of the Environment, OECD Environment Directorate, Senior Environmental Affairs Officer at the UN Earth Summit, and Professor at the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University. A pioneer in global environmental policy research, he actively advocates on climate change policy and the SDGs. His numerous publications include 'The 1.5°C Climate Crisis', 'Climate Crisis and the Pandemic', 'A Journey to Earth Environmental Studies', 'Advancing Environmental Policy Studies', 'Environmental Governance', and 'Introduction to Environmental Politics'.
