Lotte Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Hideki Nakajima, President and CEO) will launch 'Ukiyo-e Bikkuriman Chocolate' in Western Japan ahead of other regions starting Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
As interest in Japanese culture grows worldwide, Ukiyo-e is garnering renewed attention through exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. Reflecting this trend, we decided to launch this product as a project to enjoy Ukiyo-e, the pop culture of the Edo period, in a modern way with a unique Bikkuriman expression.
While Bikkuriman and Ukiyo-e may seem distant, surprising commonalities across eras become apparent, such as the sparkling expression of Bikkuriman and the 'kirazuri' (mica printing) of Ukiyo-e, and the unique deformed expression of Bikkuriman and the 'giga' (humorous exaggeration) of Ukiyo-e. By combining them, we propose a new experience to enjoy Ukiyo-e in a Bikkuriman-like way.
Please enjoy the world view where Bikkuriman characters have time-slipped to Edo.
