Since 2022, Lotte Corporation (Representative Director and President: Hideki Nakajima, hereinafter 'Lotte') has been regularly donating surplus food(*) to food banks and children's cafeterias through the National Food Support Activity Cooperation Council (Representative Director: Junko Ishida). In FY2025, the company donated 3,403 cases (180,568 items) of confectionery and other products.

Lotte promotes sustainability management under its sustainability goal 'Lotte Mirai Challenge 2048'. As part of this, the company is advancing initiatives with the goal of reducing FLW (Food Loss and Waste) by 50% or more by FY2028 (per unit, compared to FY2019). They achieved a 31% reduction in the FY2024 results. Lotte is striving to improve the accuracy of demand forecasting and is working to suppress the generation of surplus food. However, for surplus food that is unavoidably generated, the company strives to reduce food waste by regularly donating it to food banks and children's cafeterias, allowing it to be effectively utilized by those in need.

National Food Support Activity Cooperation Council

The National Food Support Activity Cooperation Council is an intermediary support organization promoting the 'Meals on Wheels Logisystem', a system that efficiently connects food banks and children's cafeterias nationwide with businesses making food donations. Lotte has collaborated with the council to engage in efficient and sustainable surplus food donations, and received the 'Judging Committee Chairman's Award' in the 'FY2024 Commendation for Promoting the Reduction of Food Loss and Waste' sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and the Consumer Affairs Agency.
