Loro Piana Strengthens Ties with Equestrian Sports, Sponsoring the 93rd Piazza di Siena International Show Jumping Competition

Loro Piana has reaffirmed its commitment to elegance and excellence in sports by participating in the Piazza di Siena competition, one of Europe's oldest equestrian events, now in its 93rd edition. This marks a significant opportunity to further deepen the traditions and values of fair play that the Maison shares with the equestrian world. The competition was held in Rome from May 27 to 31, 2026, and the Maison-hosted Loro Piana Trophy and Loro Piana Six Bars took place on Saturday, May 30, at the historic Villa Borghese in the center of Rome. Once again this year, under the gold and blue flags representing the Maison's sports colors, athletes Edwina Tops-Alexander, Lorenzo De Luca, and Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani competed representing the Loro Piana Jumping Team.

The Maison has built a long-standing relationship with the equestrian world. Both Pier Luigi and Sergio Loro Piana have devoted deep passion to horses and show jumping, which embodies ultimate elegance and beauty. Sergio Loro Piana used to say that equestrianism is a school of life that teaches respect for animals, patience, and discipline.

This year as well, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Lorenzo De Luca, and Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani wore the official Loro Piana uniform. They paired a modified 'Spagna' jacket—made of technical stretch wool Bristol, featuring a unique navy blue color, a mustard cashmere-pima collar, and hand-finished crest buttons—with comfortable optical white jodhpurs made of techno-bonded stretch jersey. These garments were exclusively designed for Loro Piana athletes, blending elegant style with ultimate performance through innovative technical materials. The ultrafine Australis® wool guarantees maximum comfort and ease of movement. Furthermore, an ivory quilted vest and an 'Ostana' shirt were worn under the jacket. The Ostana shirt, using technical stretch pique, plays a role in enhancing movement during competitions and maintaining comfort. During their leisure time at Piazza di Siena, the athletes wore Maison icons, such as the 'Horsey®' jacket made of linen-silk 3-layer Storm System® and, for men, the Loro Piana Bomber made of Bristol, while women wore the Windmate® stretch storm version featuring a unique blend of microfiber and ultrafine cashmere. These garments are treated with the Storm System® finish, providing water-repellent and windproof properties.

In 1985, the Maison formed the 'Loro Piana Jumping Team' to compete in show jumping and dressage, subsequently building an enduring bond with the Italian Equestrian Federation and the Italian Show Jumping Team. In 1992, deciding to apply its years of technical knowledge in supreme quality apparel to equestrian sports, the Maison produced the official uniforms for the Italian Show Jumping Team at the Barcelona Olympics. This led to the creation of the Horsey® jacket, one of the Maison's iconic items, featuring a blue technical fabric with yellow trim. Since then, the Maison has continued to provide uniforms for the Italian team at major international competitions, including the Olympics and the European and World Equestrian Championships. For over 30 years, the Maison has supported the Piazza di Siena International Show Jumping competition, which gathers some of the world's most talented athletes.

Held from May 27 to 31, the 93rd Rome Piazza di Siena International Show Jumping Competition - Master d'Inzeo is an unparalleled sporting event, not only for the technical level of the competition and the location but also because it is held in the oval arena of the historic Villa Borghese in the center of Rome. Since 2018, the Italian Equestrian Federation (FISE) and Sport e Salute S.p.A. have signed an agreement with the City of Rome to introduce a sports model that protects the area around Piazza di Siena year-round, including the restoration and recovery of artistic, architectural, and sculptural assets, as well as the maintenance of precious botanical areas such as the 'Valle dei Platani'.
