8 Years After Chromemolybdenum's Hiatus: Chromemolishitan's 'Eat Yesterday Without Singing' Announces Tokyo and Osaka Performances, Visuals Unveiled!

'Eat Yesterday Without Singing' will be performed in Tokyo at Independent Theatre Oji (1-14-4 Oji, Kita-ku, Tokyo, B1F) from September 9 (Wed) to 20 (Sun), 2026, and in Osaka at Independent Theatre 2nd (4-9-5 Nipponbashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka) from September 25 (Fri) to 27 (Sun), 2026.

■ What is Chromemolishitan? ■

A project launched by Morishita Ryo, former leading actor of Chromemolybdenum (active 1989–2018), aiming to stage performances as close as possible to the original Chromemolybdenum style, under the writing and direction of Chromemolybdenum's founder Aoki Hideki.

The project restarts at the former Oji Little Theatre (now Independent Theatre Oji), where Chromemolybdenum's final performance, 'Sometimes, Swim in the Sea!', was held.

■ About this performance

This project began moving in June 2024, six years after Chromemolybdenum suspended activities.

We are quietly thrilled to finally announce the details of the performance.

Since it's Morishita Ryo-produced Chromemolybdenum,

it's called Chromemolishitan.

Chrom? Molishitan? What does it mean?

You might be wondering.

Simply put, to allow Aoki Hideki, the founder, playwright, and director of Chromemolybdenum, to focus solely on creation and direction, I have taken over the role of producer.

We sincerely hope longtime fans of Chromemolybdenum will look forward to it, and those who've never seen it will experience it for the first time.

Eight years since Chromemolybdenum's suspension,

I've performed in various plays and hosted talk shows about great performances I've seen.

Though I've loved many works deeply,

it's Aoki Hideki's works that remain painfully and pleasurably embedded in my heart.

We've been trying to put the theater troupe Chromemolybdenum into cold sleep for several years, but I couldn't fall asleep. Maybe the pillow wasn't right. I regret not choosing one that supports at points, and kept tossing and turning. Then suddenly, an emergency alarm rang, and I was abruptly awakened. Outside, crew member Morishita had already woken up, and apparently, a distress signal like an SOS had arrived from a nearby planet. We detached only the 'Chrome' from Chromemolybdenum and arrived at the planet—only to find evolved apes killing each other! How barbaric, I thought, and returned to the ship, but a baby ape was stuck to crew member Morishita's face and wouldn't come off. When it finally came off, what emerged by bursting through Morishita's black abdomen was Chromemolishitan!
