Last January, 'OWARI NO HAJIMARI' (members: Chihiro Okutani, Arihiro Iwata, and Hiroshi Asahina) completely adapted Michiko Aoyama's 'Mokuyoubi ni wa Cocoa wo' (Cocoa on Thursday) into a stage play for their flagship performance, closing the curtains amid massive success with all seats sold out.
Their second installment will be their first original production, featuring a newly written script by actor Hiroshi Asahina, taking on the challenge of writing for the first time. Tomoyuki Ueno will be in charge of direction and stage adaptation.
The main visual for this production is unveiled for the first time today. Joining members Okutani, Iwata, and Asahina, the cast features Shunya Ohira, Yuta Uehara (Daw 90000), Iori Miyauchi, Daichi Tamagaki, Noriko Aoyama, Yoshino Imamura, and Sumire Kudo. Enthusiastic comments have arrived from the entire cast.
Cast Comments
Chihiro Okutani
Looking back, there are times when I regret things, thinking, 'I should have done it this way.'
That is exactly why I want to believe that who I am right now is the best version of myself.
No matter what path it is, how much can I face what is right in front of me and keep moving forward?
Beyond that, a new life branches out like leaves, connecting and becoming visible.
In this production, triggered by a certain event, we travel back in time to re-examine our own existence.
Just as what is normal for someone might not be normal for another, I hope the audience can watch the play from various angles and feel something from it.
The second production of OWARI NO HAJIMARI opens on June 10.
We look forward to seeing you at the theater.
Shunya Ohira
People surely live while being saved by words, and also live while being hurt by words.
There are nights when a single word can save you, and there are words that become scars that won't fade even after years pass.
Because of that, I want to carefully deliver every single emotion exchanged within this work.
I will take this on with all my might so that we can deliver a production that, after watching it, makes you want to meet someone, makes you want to send words to someone.
We await you at the 'Kotonoha' theater.
Yuta Uehara (Daw 90000)
This is Uehara from Daw 90000! I am very happy to be able to work again so soon with Mr. Asahina, whom I just co-starred with for the first time the other day! Since there was such a wonderful reunion, I am thrilled hoping there will be more wonderful new encounters!
Also, we were accommodated by the venue, Theater Tops, about twice for Daw 90000 performances, making this our third connection in about 4 years! I am also feeling the joy of coming back after a long time! It is full of wonderful reunions!
I will do my best! Thank you!!
Iori Miyauchi
Nice to meet everyone. I am Iori Miyauchi, and I will be appearing in 'Kotonoha'.
When I previously co-starred with Mr. Okutani, his attitude towards acting and his personality were so wonderful that I thought, 'I want to work with him again.' I also watched OWARI NO HAJIMARI's previous work, 'Mokuyoubi ni wa Cocoa wo', and it was a very warm production that made me feel like I was having a direct conversation with the performers. Through this 'Kotonoha', I also hope to convey something as if I am speaking directly to the audience. I will work as hard as I can.
Daichi Tamagaki
I will be playing the role of Kai. I am Daichi Tamagaki!
I feel that Kai is a clumsy person who, while harboring parts where he cannot be honest with his family, strongly seeks connection. In this work where the past and present intersect, I will face it so that I can deliver to the audience the emotions that connect unconsciously and the sense of distance born from being family. I will do my utmost to deliver a work that will remain in the memories of everyone who watches. Thank you.
Noriko Aoyama
I felt that the theme of this play is 'life'. It is something always close to us, but it has become routine. Are there things we are overlooking or have forgotten... My heart trembles from now, thinking that I can embark on a journey to ponder such things with so many people. Because it's been a long time since I was in a play, my heart is pounding, but borrowing a lot of strength from the staff and my co-stars, I want to live 'now' firmly, not forget 'gratitude', and be in the world of a story that connects life, hoping that the 'future' becomes an even slightly better world.
