20th Anniversary Since First Held! Fan Appreciation Event by Popular Performers Including Shunputei Shota, 'Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri 2026: Geikyo Matsuri Yose' Announced

Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri Executive Committee / Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Rakugo Geijutsu Kyokai / Office Tackle Co., Ltd. will host the Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri 2026 'Geikyo Matsuri Yose' on Sunday, May 26, 2026, at Geino Kadensha Gymnasium (Geino Kadensha A Building 2F, 6-12-30 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo).

Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri The 'Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri' is an annual fan appreciation festival held at Geino Kadensha in Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, where the Public Interest Incorporated Association Rakugo Geijutsu Kyokai (commonly known as Geikyo, Chairman: Shunputei Shota) has its office. The event makes use of Geino Kadensha, a renovated former elementary school building. There are many events planned by performers, such as events and workshops held in the former classrooms, and a sign rally. Through these performer-made events, you can experience the true faces of the performers, different from their usual Yose (rakugo theaters) or performances.

What is Geikyo Matsuri Yose? It is a paid rakugo performance held within the Geikyo Rakugo Matsuri. This time, in addition to rakugo, kodan, and rokyoku, you can enjoy an entertainment show featuring Yose dances and tap dances from various schools that are not usually seen.

Performers include Shunputei Shota, a rakugo performer and chairman of the Rakugo Art Association, as well as Sanyutei Koyuza, popular young and talented Katsura Miyaji, Kanda Hakuzan (kōdan), and activity picture narrator Sakamoto Yorimitsu, who received the Reiwa 6 (2024) Arts Encouragement Prize for New Artists from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In addition, the program is more varied than in previous years, featuring tap dances and Yose dances by performers belonging to the association, and rakugo performer Takigawa Rishō challenging rokyoku.
