[Visual Release] Takahiro Tamura's Masterpiece 'Chichi yo!' by ONEOR8 to be Performed by Priere with New Cast

Priere Produce 'Chichi yo!' will be performed from Friday, July 3, 2026, to Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Kichijoji Theater (1-33-22 Kichijoji Honcho, Musashino City, Tokyo).

This production is a new Priere version with a new cast, based on the play that premiered in 2013 as the inaugural performance of Honokuni Toyohashi Arts Theater and was restaged in 2015.

The writer and director is Takahiro Tamura of ONEOR8. He possesses a keen eye that observes the loneliness and worldviews of others from an objective perspective, and he is a master at capturing the real and honest humor that breathes in everyday life. The 'daily life of an elderly person living alone' that he depicted in his mid-30s might offer hope that it is even more vibrant and rich than that of the current generation struggling with life not going as planned.

This story, which is not irrelevant to modern Japan, has a universality that resonates with many people in any era.
Also noteworthy is the skillful direction, where male cast members take turns playing the role of the father in flashback scenes, and one female cast member plays all four women involved with each of the four brothers.

■Story
A house in a certain rural town.
The four brothers gather at their parents' home after a long time. There's a reason for their gathering.
Who will take care of their father, who is now in his mid-80s?
The father, who has been living alone since their mother passed away 10 years ago, seems pitiful with no hobbies or pastimes.
A discussion takes place in the father's absence, but the eldest son, who was the main candidate, dodges his brothers' questions and avoids offering help. The younger brothers also make up excuses and push the responsibility onto each other.
As their individual circumstances are revealed, time passes without a conclusion.
Then, a woman visits the father.
The woman, who claims to be a welfare officer, tells them about the father's current daily life, which is surprising to the sons...
