About the Play
The play is set 20 years from the present day. It depicts a world where values have been rewritten due to the rise of a certain political party. It is a world where conscription is in place, the declining birthrate has been solved, and "mother" and "magical girl" are ranked high in the "Girls' Future Dream Ranking."
The protagonist, Asako, is a high school girl at the top of the school hierarchy who says, "My dream for the future is a happy marriage." She meets a mysterious fairy named "Hachibe" and becomes a magical girl who defeats the mysterious beings called "Villains" that appear in the city.
Is the being she confronts truly a villain (an evil person)? A world where familiar words inexplicably resonate like incomprehensible foreign languages. Are the villains' screams truly in a foreign language? Is being the majority always right? Are minorities who speak up a nuisance and evil? This is an anti-discrimination magical girl play where we will think with the audience for 90 minutes about what true evil is.
Highlights
We've packed dance, comedy, and societal commentary into 90 minutes. Although the theme is heavy, it's a pop and sparkling stage. It ends in the blink of an eye. Recommended for those new to small theater productions.
Background of the Production
"(To make such claims) you're not Japanese," I thought when I saw a woman say that in an interview. To think that such people really exist..."
