■ Background and Results of Implementation

Ajinomoto operates a diverse range of businesses, from food products to electronic materials, under its purpose of "contributing to the well-being of people, society, and the planet through amino science." At its Food Research Institute, two staff members managed budgets for approximately 400 researchers, resulting in a completely individual-dependent (siloed) R&D budget management process. The need for about one week to complete monthly reporting had become a serious operational burden.

With the implementation of the 'Loglass Management System,' the company achieved systematization of performance management and end-to-end integration from data aggregation to reporting. Monthly reporting time was reduced from approximately one week to about two days, while simultaneously promoting transparency of budget performance for over 10 group leaders.

＜Challenges Before Implementation＞

・Essential budget-related information was scattered across multiple sources, and manual data aggregation from Excel files and emails required about one week for monthly reporting and about one month for quarterly budget planning.

・Data was dispersed across Excel, Word, and core systems, with inconsistent item granularity and formatting.

・Group leaders were not granted access IDs to the core system, making it difficult to share detailed budget performance information with individual teams.

＜Results After Implementation＞

・Reduced workload: Preparation for monthly regular meetings was shortened from about one week to about two days, enabling earlier meeting schedules.

・End-to-end integration and elimination of reports: Word-based reports were abolished, and the entire process—from data aggregation to reporting—is now completed within the 'Loglass Management System.' Screens can be directly presented during meetings.

・Improved budget awareness: Accounts were provided to over 10 group leaders, enabling visualization of budget performance. Group leaders themselves can now identify and correct misclassified expense items within their teams.
