For the first time in Japan, a women's health symposium will be held simultaneously across 12 regions nationwide.
The "Local Woman's Health Lab (LWHL)," a national network dedicated to solving women's health issues in local communities and improving health literacy, will hold Japan's first women's health symposium simultaneously in 12 regions nationwide on May 16, 2026.
This symposium is a new initiative that combines online and in-person events in each region. It aims to share themes currently under social discussion nationwide, such as women's health, gender issues, and access to emergency contraceptives, while connecting them to dialogue and practice in each local area.
Currently, the crowdfunding campaign for the event has less than a month left until it ends and is entering its final phase.
■ What is Local Woman's Health Lab (LWHL)?
Local Woman's Health Lab (LWHL) is a national network connecting practitioners working on women's health issues, health literacy improvement, and Femtech promotion across the country.
By sharing and circulating initiatives and practical knowledge scattered across different regions, it aims to create mutual learning and co-creation that transcend individual activities, and to expand local actions nationwide.
LWHL, which has been holding regular online exchanges and information sharing, will now broadcast its efforts to society for the first time in the form of a symposium.

■ Why "Women's Health x Local Communities" Now?
In recent years, social interest in women's health has been rapidly increasing against the backdrop of the expanding Femtech market and the promotion of health and productivity management in companies.
Furthermore, the Cabinet Office's "Basic Policy on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women" also highlights the importance of women's active participation and health support in regional areas, and initiatives are beginning to progress in various places.
On the other hand, the outflow of young women has become a major issue in many regions, and there is a need to create local environments where people can think about their lives, work styles, and health with peace of mind.
We believe that supporting women's health and active participation in each region plays a crucial role in addressing these challenges.
Therefore, LWHL has connected peers active in various places and shared local initiatives, practical knowledge, and challenges.
And this time, building on those connections, we have planned a symposium to be held simultaneously in 12 regions nationwide as an unprecedented hybrid attempt: connecting the whole country online in the morning and unfolding in-person in each region in the afternoon.
■ A Symposium with "Executive Committee Members" in Each of the 12 Regions Nationwide
This symposium is scheduled to be held simultaneously in 12 regions nationwide, from Aomori in the north to Hiroshima in the south.
A major feature is that each region has executive committee members who live and are active in that area, taking the initiative in planning and operation.
The executive committee is composed of members from diverse backgrounds, including practitioners active in the region and individuals concerned with women's health issues.
This initiative is still expanding, and we are making adjustments for further regional deployment.

■ Symposium Structure: A Two-Part Structure Connecting the Nation and Local Regions
The symposium will be held in a two-part structure that connects the nation and local regions.
[Morning: Nationwide Simultaneous Online Broadcast]
Keynote speeches will be held addressing the forefront issues surrounding women's health and regional challenges.
By connecting various parts of the country online and allowing participants to share the same themes simultaneously, we will create a foundation for learning and dialogue that transcends regions.

This session will provide insights for considering the ideal state of local practices and policies by cross-sectionally capturing women's health and social issues from the multifaceted perspectives of policy, social structure, industry, and medical access.
[Afternoon: In-Person Events in Each Region]
In the afternoon, the venue will shift to each region, and programs tailored to the actual conditions of the local area, such as workshops, talk sessions, and networking events, will be held simultaneously.
While sharing themes simultaneously nationwide, the content discussed and the questions raised will differ by region.
It is a new form of symposium that values both the "nation" and the "local region."
■ Background of the Crowdfunding Campaign
To realize this new attempt of a simultaneous nationwide event, funds are needed for venue costs, distribution and production costs, and the establishment of an operational structure.
In this project, we are conducting crowdfunding to gather "companions who will nurture this initiative together as something necessary for society."
Each person involved in this initiative will become a presence that supports the movement to change women's health issues from the local level.
