Completed in October 1984, the Toyota Motor Corporation Shibetsu Proving Ground is located in a harsh environment with temperature differences of up to 60 degrees Celsius (minus 30 degrees in winter, plus 30 degrees in summer), and has long been utilized as a test track supporting the creation of safe and secure automobiles. The site, equivalent to approximately 200 Tokyo Domes, is equipped with a test course featuring a straight section of about 4 km and a circuit of about 10 km, and is a special facility not usually open to the public.
