Tattoo Japan Studio - Everything for tattoo studio operations, all in one place.

Liviro Inc. (Location: Osaka Prefecture, Representative: Yuichi Ishiyama), which operates the tattoo media 'Tattoo Japan,' has officially launched 'Tattoo Japan Studio,' an industry-specific customer management cloud system for tattoo artists and studios nationwide, today, April 2, 2026.

Bizen, a leading tattoo artist with numerous celebrity clients, participated as a supervisor in the development of this system.

In a rapidly expanding market, the system aims to solve real-world challenges and create an environment where all tattoo artists can "immerse themselves in creativity."

1. Why an "Exclusive Tattoo Industry" Solution Now? The Limits of "Back Office" Left Behind in a Growing Market

Triggered by the Supreme Court ruling in 2020 (no doctor's license required), the Japanese tattoo industry has reached a major turning point. The tattoo population in Japan has doubled from approximately 700,000 to about 1.4 million over the past eight years, and is projected to grow further to an estimated 1.8 million by 2025.

*Source and estimation basis: Japan's tattoo population is based on research by Professor Yoshimi Yamamoto (Tsuru University) and data from fashion trade newspaper "WWDJAPAN" (reported December 2024), etc. (2014: approx. 700,000 → 2022: doubled to approx. 1.4 million). With the 2020 Supreme Court ruling (no doctor's license required for tattoo procedures) as a turning point, figures from 2024 onwards are estimated based on growth trends. (Actual number of owners may be higher as this is self-reported data)

Furthermore, this growth is not a temporary boom. Social shifts such as "Instagram-driven customer acquisition revolution" and "increase in inbound demand" are fueling this rapid growth, with about 60% of those aged 20 and under "agreeing" to tattoo deregulation, advancing its demand as a fashion statement.

*Source: Japan Trend Research (NEXER Inc.) "Survey on Tattoos" (surveyed April 2021). Approximately 60% of respondents aged 20 and under answered "Agree (should be relaxed)" to deregulation. Survey details link: https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000356.000044800.html

However, despite a rush of new studio openings and surging bookings, studio operations remain extremely analog. This has led to three structural industry challenges (pains):

・ Booking and Schedule Collapse:

Consultation and procedure bookings are scattered across Instagram DMs, LINE, etc. Managing them in notebooks or in one's head has reached its limit, leading to frequent double bookings and missed replies.

・ Missed Sales Management for Long-Term Projects:

For high-value procedures spanning multiple sessions, such as a "full back piece," analog memo management makes it unclear "how much was received last time," resulting in missed collection of unpaid amounts.

・ Customer Concerns about "Personal Information":

"Consent forms" and "charts" containing names and allergy information are kept in paper binders and scattered across individual smartphones. This leaves customers with concerns about their information being lost or leaked.

As a result, even highly skilled tattoo artists are exhausted by "management tasks," losing time that could be spent building trust with customers and creating art.

2. 'Tattoo Japan Studio' Solves All Challenges and Provides Peace of Mind to Customers

To simultaneously resolve this "on-site exhaustion" and "customer anxiety," we developed a cloud system fully specialized for the tattoo industry.

Compatible with all devices: smartphones, PCs, and tablets

[Four Functions for Overwhelming Efficiency and Peace of Mind]

・ "Procedure and Consultation Schedule Management" to Eliminate Dispersed Contact Points

Centralizes all bookings. Allows separate management of consultations and procedures, supports date changes and automatic reminder sending. Significantly reduces no-shows.

・ "Secure Customer and Chart Management" for Reduced Customer Anxiety

Completely digitizes paper consent forms and charts. Customers can register information themselves via QR code from their smartphones, and past procedure photos, allergy information, and consent form images are securely centralized in the cloud. Minimizes the risk of paper loss.

・ "Long-Term Project and Sales Management" to Solve Industry-Specific Issues

Automatically visualizes the "progress rate" and "outstanding unpaid amount" for long-term projects. Daily input automatically aggregates daily and monthly sales, significantly reducing tedious closing tasks. Prevents missed collection of unpaid amounts.

・ "Customer Memo and Alert Information Function" to Prevent Troubles

Safely records alert memos for internal studio use, under appropriate access control, for instances such as past no-shows. Sharing this information among staff helps prevent future troubles.

3. Feel the Impact from the First Month. Over 30 Hours of Monthly Work Reduction for Days Immersed in 'Art'

By implementing this system, administrative costs for booking adjustments, searching past charts/consent forms, and month-end closing tasks will be significantly reduced, with an estimated monthly reduction of over 30 hours of work across the entire studio. Furthermore, by visualizing progress and remaining balances, a significant improvement in the collection rate for unpaid long-term projects (up to 95% in our company's simulation) and the creation of approximately 7 new procedure slots per month can be expected. (*All figures are self-estimates based on test implementations and interviews during the development phase)

[Thorough On-Site Perspective: Expectations from Tattoo Artists Who Experienced the Pre-Launch Demo]

In developing this system, we conducted online demos with approximately 20 active artists beforehand to thoroughly understand real-world challenges. Along with feedback like "I want to use it as soon as it's released," the following expectations were received:

・ "Freed from the hell of scrolling through old LINE messages"

"For customers who haven't visited for a long time, it was really stressful to desperately scroll through old DMs and LINE messages to find 'where did I tattoo last time? How much did I receive?' With Studio's chart function, photos, notes, and amounts can be retrieved in one second. Preparation for the next session will be instant." (Tattoo artist operating a private studio)

・ "Significantly reduced anxiety about manual sales calculations in Excel and lost consent forms"

"I used to calculate sales every month using Excel formulas, but I was always worried if it was really correct... With Studio, daily input automatically aggregates sales, so I'm happy to be freed from tedious monthly closing tasks. Consent forms, which often got lost when filed on paper, can now be securely managed in the cloud, which should also reassure customers." (Tattoo studio owner)

・ "Freed from installment payment management, I can concentrate on my art"

"For long-term projects like full back pieces or full sleeves, payments are often split, and management is really tough. Seeing the demo, I was impressed by the function that automatically shows the progress rate and remaining balance for each project. With this, my anxiety about uncollected payments will greatly decrease, making it easier to concentrate on my original artwork." (Tattoo studio owner)

4. To Promote Industry DX, Tattoo Artist Bizen, Supported by Celebrities, Joins as Supervisor

Tattoo Artist Bizen

In developing this system, to pursue "infrastructure that is truly easy for the field to use," Tattoo Artist Bizen, who has numerous celebrity clients and leads the Japanese tattoo scene, participated as a supervisor and advisor.

Bizen's philosophy of "Change tattoo" (changing the negative image of tattoos) resonated with our company's vision of "creating a safe and clean infrastructure for the tattoo industry."

The perspective from a professional working on the front lines was thoroughly incorporated into the UI/UX.

[Comment from Supervisor: Bizen]

Until now, the tattoo industry has largely relied on analog management, and a major challenge has been that we tattoo artists are exhausted by tasks other than our primary creative work of 'drawing and tattooing.'

After experiencing the demo of Tattoo Japan Studio, I felt it was a system that would solve the real problems on the ground, so I agreed to cooperate as a supervisor. I hope that as this tool spreads and customer privacy is safely protected, Japan's tattoo culture will develop into a cleaner and more open one.
