LiveU's newly offered Sony RXS connection option license will enable direct transmission of native Sony camera files within the LiveU ecosystem. This provides a new option for streamlining IP-based newsgathering and live broadcast workflows.
[Hackensack, New Jersey, USA, April 14, 2026] LiveU today announced a significant expansion of its collaboration with Sony Corporation (hereinafter, Sony), promoting the integration of Sony's file-based workflows across the entire LiveU ecosystem.
As part of its portfolio, LiveU will offer the Sony RXS connection license. This will enable video files captured with compatible Sony cameras to be transmitted directly to Sony's PWA-RXS via compatible LiveU field units.
This functionality will be progressively rolled out, starting with LiveU's compact field unit, the LU300S.
This license allows seamless file transmission by connecting compatible LiveU units with Sony cameras, maintaining existing production environments and workflows, while expanding cellular bonding and IP-based newsgathering capabilities.
This solution complements the LiveU TX1, a data transmitter exclusively for Sony's professional camera series, announced in September 2025, which uses bonding technology to achieve high-speed and reliable file transmission from cameras.
Both solutions will be unveiled at LiveU's booth (N1740) at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas.
This joint solution leverages LiveU's proprietary protocol, LRT™ (LiveU Reliable Transport), and is designed for broadcasters who want to quickly and stably transmit files from cameras in the field to TV stations.
Gideon Gilboa, LiveU's Chief Product Officer (CPO), stated:
"This expanded collaboration with Sony reaffirms both companies' shared commitment to extending our ecosystem to support file-based workflows, which are growing in importance beyond live streaming, and to simplifying production flows.
Building on our collaboration with LiveU TX1, we will progressively extend support to all LiveU units. This will not only include the LiveU TX1, a data transmitter dedicated to Sony cameras, but also allow customers to add a license to existing LiveU units to operate Sony's PWA-RXS file-based workflows in parallel with live streaming, expanding their options."
"We value an open ecosystem that supports collaboration between multiple vendors and formats. By combining Sony's file-based workflows with LiveU's highly reliable IP transmission technology, news teams can simultaneously conduct live broadcasts and high-resolution file transmissions from the same device.
By leveraging existing LiveU infrastructure, deployment can be easily scaled as needed. Furthermore, it reduces manual file management, accelerates material transmission from the field, and streamlines both live streaming and file-based workflows, thereby supporting the transition to digital-first production."
Ryoichi Sakuragi, Department Manager, Media Solutions Business Division, Sony Corporation, commented:
"The news production landscape is becoming increasingly dynamic, with speed, reliability, and automation more critical than ever. Close collaboration with various video transmission partners is essential to meet the diverse needs of evolving news workflows. Our partnership with LiveU, a leading company in bonded IP video transmission, plays a crucial role in this endeavor, enabling rapid, secure, and reliable integration of content captured in the field with Sony cameras into the production process.
Together, we are achieving seamless integration for field reporting and material collection in today's rapidly changing environment."
LiveU will showcase its integrated workflow with Sony at NAB Show 2026 in the North Hall (Booth No.: N1740) in Las Vegas. Demos can be booked here: https://get.liveu.tv/nab-2026/
This solution can also be seen at Sony's booth (Central Hall, Booth No.: C8401). For more details on Sony's exhibition, please visit the special website: https://pro.sony/nab
