This project is a platform where young companions around UNDER R can create spaces through their own free ideas in art, fashion, music, and performance. The venues will be UNDER R's spaces in Tokyo and Osaka. For three days in each city, a special space will be created, offering a place where energy born from local communities and the expressions of upcoming creators intersect, giving birth to new culture.
This project is not just about exhibitions or performances; it aims to "support" the next generation of talent and create opportunities for people to experience their expressions in a real setting. It also seeks to share moments where unique expressions are born over just three days, as various sensibilities intersect. UNDER R will transmit new CREW and culture.
For Youth & Crew -vol.1 "undertow"
The first installment features Yutaro, a professional surfer, model, skater, artist, and UNDER R staff member. "undertow" refers to a strong current flowing beneath the surface, even if the surface is calm. It expresses a flexible and strong energy that, without making loud assertions, subtly draws those around into one's own world just by existing authentically. This exhibition will feature paintings and animations of original characters, exploring themes of "sadness" and "stillness" hidden behind pop forms. In addition to his own work, Yutaro will create a space with fellow artists such as Photographer jacK, Rapper GENYA, Artist Iyo, and Prop Stylist KAZUYA (HOMECENTER).
Yutaro Saito
Started skateboarding and surfing in childhood, and spent his high school years in Australia. Obtained professional surfing qualifications while in university. After graduating, he learned 3DCG at Digital Hollywood. Currently, he expresses himself in various forms, including surfing, skateboarding, painting, and 3DCG.
