Lime, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Terry Sai, hereinafter “Lime”), a company operating electric mobility sharing services in approximately 30 countries worldwide, has newly established Lime ports with a total capacity of approximately 100 units at two parking facilities operated by Daiwa House Parking Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Futoshi Sakai, hereinafter “Daiwa House Parking”) in the Shinjuku area.

At the newly established ports, Lime will deploy its electric assist bicycles, “LimeBike,” starting from May 2026. Additionally, “Battery Swap Stations,” where users can replace batteries themselves, are also planned for installation to improve the convenience of short-distance travel within the Shinjuku area.

Background

The Shinjuku area is one of Tokyo’s leading tourist and commercial districts, attracting numerous visitors from both within Japan and abroad. With a concentration of large commercial facilities, hotels, restaurants, offices, and entertainment venues, the area sees heavy foot traffic around the clock.

However, due to the widespread distribution of urban functions around Shinjuku Station, challenges such as “long distances from the station to destinations” and “high mobility burden within the area” exist. In recent years, with the increasing number of inbound tourists and rising demand for comfortable short-distance transportation beyond walking, interest in “last-mile mobility” within cities has grown significantly.

In response to these conditions, Lime is expanding its port infrastructure in the Shinjuku area. Through electric assist bicycles “LimeBike” and electric seat scooters “Lime Rakumo,” Lime aims to enhance area circulation and create a more comfortable and sustainable mobility environment.

About Battery Swap Stations

Battery Swap Stations are dedicated stands that allow users to replace batteries for Lime’s electric mobility devices on-site. By enabling users to perform battery replacements—previously conducted by operational staff—these stations eliminate charging wait times and enable more efficient and sustainable operations.

### How to Use

In the Lime app, select a vehicle with low battery, and you will be prompted to choose whether to perform a battery swap. If you wish to swap, the app will direct you to the nearest Battery Swap Station and guide you through the replacement process.

Upon arrival at the station, follow the app instructions to remove the depleted battery and replace it with a fully charged one, allowing immediate resumption of riding. During the swap process, ride time and fees are paused.

Additionally, users who participate in battery swaps will receive ride credits equivalent to 30 minutes of free riding.

After the swap, you can continue riding directly to your destination.

About Lime

Lime is one of the world’s leading electric micro-mobility sharing services, operating across five continents and approximately 30 countries, with hundreds of millions of rides to date. In Japan, Lime launched its service in August 2024, with the mission of “developing electric micro-mobility as a public transportation option and creating a carbon-free, sustainable future,” promoting next-generation clean transportation alternatives to private cars.

Currently, in Japan, Lime offers two types of vehicles: the seated electric scooter “Lime Rakumo” and the electric assist bicycle “LimeBike.” Notably, in consideration of local user needs and safety standards, Lime has discontinued the provision of standing electric kick scooters in the Japanese market.

Moving forward, Lime will continue to expand its sustainable mobility services based on user-first and safety-first principles, contributing to reduced environmental impact.
