Pulteney Distillery Brand Seminar to be Held in Kyoto's Gion to Commemorate 200th Anniversary

Liquor Mountain Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto), which operates a chain of 205 liquor specialty stores nationwide, will hold the "Pulteney Distillery Brand Seminar" at "WHISKY LAB.KYOTO GION" in Kyoto's Gion on July 22, 2026 (Wed.) from 6:00 PM. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the distillery's founding in 1826.

At this seminar, Mr. Timothy Belanger from International Beverage will explain the history and products of Pulteney Distillery, including a tasting session.

About Pulteney Distillery

Founded in 1826, Pulteney Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries. It is located in Wick, a fishing port town on the North Sea coast in the northern part of mainland Scotland, and is cherished as the home of "The Maritime Malt."

The taste perfectly embodies the character of Wick, with a robust spirit yet a delicate softness. Matured in seaside warehouses, exposed to the sea breeze, this whisky develops a refreshing aroma of sea salt reminiscent of the ocean air.

Tasting Bottles

・Old Pulteney 12 Years Old A gentle aroma of sea breeze and honey spreads, leading to warm salted caramel and soft citrus nuances. This is followed by a long, quiet finish with a subtle hint of saltiness.

・Old Pulteney 15 Years Old From its deep amber liquid, aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, and honey gently emerge. On the palate, layers of fig, red apple, and fresh spices unfold, with rich chocolate and toffee nuances extending the finish.

・Old Pulteney 18 Years Old Soft spices, creamy toffee, and rich honey rise to the nose. On the palate, chocolate and creamy vanilla spread in a well-balanced manner.

・Old Pulteney Harbour A delightful dram with a華やか (hanayaka - gorgeous/showy) and captivating aroma. Creamy vanilla and coconut rise lightly, followed by rich citrus aromas of marmalade and tangerine.

・Old Pulteney Huddart The only expression from Pulteney Distillery with a smoky character. Warm honey, gentle wood smoke, and leather nuances emerge, layered with the luxurious taste of salted caramel and sweet vanilla.

Mr. Timothy Belanger currently serves as the Sales Manager for North Asia and Oceania at International Beverage, overseeing business growth and sales strategies in key markets. His mission is to connect the right brands with the right consumers, creating special experiences and memories that resonate with people.

With over 20 years of experience in the alcoholic beverage industry, Timothy has a proven track record in brand building, sales strategy, and regional market development. He previously served as Associate Director at AB InBev, contributing to the growth of the craft beer business in Asia through innovation and business expansion. Prior to that, he was the Country Brand Manager for Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan) for single malt whisky brands Glenfarclas and Tomatin, widely disseminating the appeal and knowledge of whisky to consumers and industry professionals.
