Understanding the Top 3 Concerns from Real Voices
Below are selected actual responses from the questionnaire regarding the top three concerns identified in this survey.
1st: Concerns about subsidies and support programs (27.6%)
[Sample questions and concerns received]
• I would like detailed information about the Career Advancement Support Program through Reskilling (20s, full-time employee)
• I plan to resign at the end of May and start working part-time from June onward. By when must I secure an employment contract to qualify for subsidies? (20s, full-time employee)
• As a freelancer living overseas (working for a Japanese company), am I eligible? (40s, self-employed)
There are various subsidy and grant programs such as the "Career Advancement Support Program through Reskilling," "Training Allowance Benefits," and "Human Resource Development Support Subsidy," each with different eligibility criteria and benefit amounts. The more complex one's employment status, the more uncertainty arises. Notably, many questions came from individuals planning to resign, on leave, or students.
2nd: Concerns about career change and future employment (13.0%)
[Sample questions and concerns received]
• Is it possible to immediately transition into a design company with no prior experience? (20s, full-time employee)
• Are there any graduates in their 40s? Have they successfully found jobs, started their own businesses, or begun side gigs? (40s, full-time employee)
• Is there still demand for designers, or is the market saturated? Will studying now actually lead to income? (20s, full-time employee)
Prospective students are not just asking general questions about whether job transitions are possible, but specifically want real-life examples of people in similar age groups or life situations. Additionally, some expressed concerns about the overall demand in the industry.
3rd (tie): Tuition fees and payment methods (11.1%)
[Sample questions and concerns received]
• I'm concerned about the cost, as I don't have much financial flexibility (20s, contract/dispatch employee)
• If I choose installment payments, will interest be charged? Also, can I pay off the balance in full midway through the payment plan? (20s, full-time employee)
• I'm worried the total cost might be unexpectedly high. I'd like to know the full amount including all fees (30s, part-time worker)
Linked to concerns about subsidies, many respondents expressed financial worries, particularly regarding payment methods and total tuition costs.
3rd (tie): Availability of online learning (11.1%)
[Sample questions and concerns received]
• I'm concerned because I won't be able to attend classes in person (20s, part-time worker)
• Since I live far away, I'll need to take the course online. Is that acceptable? (40s, full-time employee)
• I live in a rural area and would study mostly online. I'd like to see examples of graduation projects by similar students to gauge the quality level achievable (20s, part-time worker)
The school offers three formats: in-person, online-only, and hybrid. The concerns expressed go beyond whether online learning is available—they reflect a deeper worry about whether the quality of learning online matches that of in-person attendance.
