Since its founding, Lightec has developed and offered products designed to bring color and richness to people's lives through tools that ignite, such as lighters. Since our establishment in 1937, we have continuously provided "enjoyment" adapted to the changing times. In recent years, as Lightec Holdings, we have maximized group synergy and expanded into diverse business domains such as wellness and lifestyle goods, not limited to our traditional core businesses of smoking accessories and electronic cigarettes (VAPE).
This expansion is driven by significant changes in the market environment. Increased taxes on cigarettes and passive smoking countermeasures have led to a rapid rise in establishments and facilities where indoor smoking has become difficult. Leading up to the Tokyo Olympics, ashtrays and trash cans were removed from public spaces, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing number of users switched to heated tobacco products, citing reasons such as "cannot smoke at home" and "walls getting stained." Against the backdrop of these societal changes, the usage scenarios for lighters themselves have significantly shrunk and transformed.
However, Lightec did not view this situation as merely adverse. While smoking rates were declining, the "culture of enjoying fire" such as bonfires, camping, candles, and incense, was actually expanding, and we were convinced of the potential that "fire" holds.
Therefore, we seized these market changes as an opportunity and, in parallel with the development of next-generation smoking devices like VAPE, we have earnestly engaged in establishing a new category of "lifestyle lighters" that are not solely for smoking purposes. As a result, the optimization of our revenue structure through diversification of our business portfolio and the successive hits of new category products in each domain have become driving forces, leading to a sales growth of 134% in fiscal year 2025 compared to 2020.
