Life Design Kabaya Opens New Flagship Model Home Featuring CLT Hybrid Tech in Okayama on May 2nd

Life Design Kabaya Co., Ltd. (President: Kentaro Kubota; HQ: Okayama City) will grand open its new exhibition center, 'Life Design Kabaya OHK Housing Exhibition Center,' on Saturday, May 2, 2026, within the renovated 'OHK Housing' complex in Okayama City. This marks the company's first entry into the OHK Housing venue.

The exhibition center showcases the 'CLT MASTERS' product line, utilizing the proprietary 'CLT Hybrid Method.' The design concept is 'A Mansion Resort for Adults.' By leveraging CLT technology, the home achieves large open spaces and a ceiling height of 2,600mm. Features include indirect lighting on curved ceilings, wooden grilles above the kitchen, and a master bedroom with an integrated shower room and washbasin, reminiscent of a luxury hotel. A 'Book Nook' is also provided for pre-sleep relaxation.

About the CLT Hybrid Method: This is Life Design Kabaya's original construction method where octagonal CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) load-bearing walls are integrated into a standard timber frame. While CLT is typically used in mid-to-high-rise buildings overseas, the company optimized it for residential use, ensuring cost-efficiency and superior performance. In seismic tests, the structure withstood 70 consecutive earthquakes of intensity 5 to 7 without significant damage, realizing a home that truly 'stays standing.'

Awards: The project recently achieved a triple win, receiving the 2025 Good Design Award, the iF Design Award 2026, and the Wood Design Award 2025.
