LEIFRAS CO.,LTD. (Nasdaq: LFS), which operates sports schools for children and supports the regional expansion of club activities, will co-host the symposium "Regional Expansion of Club Activities: Current Status and Future," organized by the Japan Association for the Promotion of the Sports Industry. As Japan enters the "Reform Implementation Period" for club activities, mandated by the government from fiscal year 2026, this symposium will be held on August 6th to foster a sustainable sports environment through collaboration between policy, the field, and the private sector.

Social Background and Purpose of the Event

From fiscal year 2026, Japan's club activities will enter the "Reform Implementation Period" aimed at the regional expansion of weekend club activities. Transformation is rapidly accelerating in this enormous market, with approximately "9,800 junior high schools, 128,000 clubs," and a market size of "approximately 500 billion yen*1." While the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Agency for Cultural Affairs announced policies in 2023 regarding regional cooperation and expansion into regional clubs for club activities, and initiatives are progressing in each municipality, various challenges such as securing instructors, funding, and operational structures are being pointed out at the field level. This symposium aims to deepen understanding and explore solutions among stakeholders, particularly regarding the promotion of understanding of various support systems (subsidies, commissions, etc.) for regional sports promotion, and the ideal approach to regional cooperation and external utilization of school facilities. Our company, with the No. 1*2 track record in the country for commissioned schools (381 schools) and supported club activities (2,120 clubs), will participate in the discussion based on our frontline knowledge.
