LegalOn Technologies, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Nozomu Tsunoda, Representative Director, Executive Officer, Group CEO) has updated the AI review function of its "DocumentOn" service, which uses AI to review various internal documents. This function checks if the display content of advertisements and promotional materials complies with the display regulations of the Premiums and Representations Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Act"). The update includes multiple features, such as a function where AI supervised by lawyers categorizes issues by importance based on the level of risk of violation and disposition, and a function that presents disposition cases and guidelines related to the identified issues.
This update enables users to complete the entire process from identifying high-risk expressions to confirming their basis and prioritizing revisions within "DocumentOn," supporting both effectiveness and efficiency in advertising compliance checks.

Background of the "DocumentOn" Act Display Regulations AI Review Function Update
The regulatory environment surrounding the "Act" has undergone significant changes in recent years. System development for optimizing advertising displays is accelerating, including amendments to the Act such as the introduction of theステルスマーケティング (stealth marketing) regulation in October 2023, and the introduction of increased surcharges for repeat offenders and direct criminal penalties for unfair representations in October 2024. Surcharge payment orders have also become larger, with dispositions ranging from hundreds of millions to over a billion yen per case. In this environment, companies are increasingly required to establish systems that allow them to self-verify and correct the legality of their advertising displays.
On the other hand, many companies in advertising production and advertising/promotion/marketing departments express concerns such as "We cannot handle the workload if we try to review all advertisements" and "We want to focus on risks that could lead to legal violations or serious trouble."
To address these challenges, this update incorporates a function where AI supervised by lawyers assesses the risk of Act violations and disposition for advertising expressions in three levels: high, medium, and low. It also includes a function to display guidelines and past similar disposition cases that serve as the basis for the findings, as well as a typo and misprint check function. Users can prioritize addressing high-risk expressions and simultaneously confirm the basis for them, enabling effective advertising compliance checks even with limited time.
Update Details of the "DocumentOn" Act Display Regulations AI Review Function
1. Risk Check of Advertising Expressions by AI Supervised by Lawyers (3 Levels)
For each advertising expression, AI supervised by lawyers comprehensively assesses the likelihood of it being deemed an Act violation and the possibility of administrative disposition, displaying the importance level in three tiers: "High," "Medium," and "Low." Instead of assigning a uniform importance level to each check item, the AI comprehensively judges the assertiveness of the expression in the advertisement copy, the existence of a rational basis, and the possibility of consumer misunderstanding, in context, based on past administrative disposition trends.
For example, the same "No. 1" claim will be treated as a legal display if it is based on objective research and the research results are properly cited. However, if it is based on image surveys or lacks citation of evidence, it will be flagged as a high-risk expression with a "High" importance level. Furthermore, expressions within the scope of puffery (common-sense exaggeration) that general consumers do not take literally, such as "guaranteed to become a classic," will be judged as "Low" importance, suppressing excessive指摘 (indications). Simultaneously, a filtering function by importance level is also included. By narrowing down to only high-risk指摘, users can begin revisions of high-priority expressions.
2. Display of Disposition Cases and Basis Guidelines
For each指摘, similar past administrative disposition cases and the guidelines that form the basis will be displayed. Users can navigate to the official pages of the Consumer Affairs Agency, etc., via links to check details.
Instead of abstract指摘 like "There is a risk," specific information such as "Disposition case of XX hundred million yen for similar expressions" is presented, enhancing the persuasiveness for internal revision requests and explanations to clients.
3. Typo and Misprint Check Function
In addition to checking for unfair representation risks under the Act, this function detects typos, misprints, extraneous characters, inconsistent notation, and grammatical errors in all text included in the advertisement. It helps prevent notation errors that could damage the brand and improves the efficiency of proofreading.
4. Expansion of Supported File Formats
In addition to the conventional PDF, Word, and PowerPoint formats, the service now newly supports image files in JPEG and PNG formats. This allows for the review of advertisements created in image formats, such as banner ads and social media post images.
