Nagoya City Becomes First Municipality to Conduct Waste Collection Demonstration Experiment Using "G-SUPPORT"

Lecip and ShinMaywa Industries' jointly developed waste collection efficiency system "G-SUPPORT" has been adopted by Nagoya City for a demonstration experiment aimed at implementing door-to-door collection of resource waste. The three-month experiment, starting in May 2026, seeks to establish an efficient and sustainable collection model.

Lecip Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture; President: Motoaki Kitano), a consolidated subsidiary of Lecip Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture; President: Makoto Sugimoto), and ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture; President: Keishi Kunihara) have jointly developed the "G-SUPPORT" waste collection operation efficiency system. This system has now been adopted by Nagoya City for a demonstration experiment aimed at transitioning to door-to-door collection of "resource waste."

The experiment, which will run for three months starting in May 2026, is designed to apply the same door-to-door collection method already implemented for "household general waste" (such as "burnable waste" and "non-burnable waste") to "resource waste" (paper packaging/miscellaneous paper, PET bottles, empty bottles, empty cans). Data related to the operation of waste collection vehicles will be collected via the newly adopted "G-SUPPORT" system, and based on the analysis results, an efficient and sustainable waste collection model will be constructed.

Overview of Nagoya City's Waste Collection Demonstration Experiment

In recent years, while the amount of waste discharged in municipalities nationwide has been decreasing due to the promotion of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and population decline, the actual waste collection work on-site faces increasing burdens on collection workers, such as an aging workforce, labor shortages, and rising temperatures.

Furthermore, with the enforcement of the Container and Packaging Recycling Law and the Plastic Resource Circulation Promotion Law, separate collection of waste has progressed, forcing an increasing number of municipalities to consider countermeasures.

Against this backdrop, Nagoya City, which has already introduced the door-to-door collection method for "household general waste," planned this demonstration experiment to identify optimal collection routes and reduce the burden on collection workers before applying the same collection method to "resource waste." In this experiment, "G-SUPPORT" will be installed in the target waste collection vehicles and utilized for acquiring various data and conducting analysis activities through actual driving.
