This tournament, deeply connected to the British Royal Family, is also widely known as an international social gathering place for members of the Royal Family, dignitaries, cultural figures, and business leaders from various countries.

On this symbolic stage, "Torishiki (Yakitori)" was selected as a representative of Japanese food culture, gathering alongside three other leading Japanese establishments: "Iida Shoten (Ramen)," "Sushi Yuu (Sushi)," and "Sukiyaki Kappo Hiayama (Sukiyaki)."

Furthermore, this initiative offered an experiential journey into the multifaceted charm of Japanese food culture, from the eve of the event to the tournament day itself. It provided an opportunity to showcase the value of yakitori and the depth of Japanese craftsmanship to the world in London.

This endeavor demonstrated that yakitori, a unique Japanese food culture, can be accepted as an "experiential value" on an international stage.

WHAT IS|About the Royal Windsor Cup

The Royal Windsor Cup is a prestigious and traditional polo tournament in the UK, hosted by the esteemed Guards Polo Club located in Windsor, UK.

Polo, a team sport played on horseback, has developed as a pastime for royalty and nobility, earning it the title "King of Sports."

The tournament began with the club's founding in 1955 and has flourished due to its deep relationship with the British Royal Family. Today, it is widely recognized not only as a competitive event but also as an international social occasion.

EXPERIENCE|Japanese Food Culture and Yakitori Experience at a Venue with Ties to the British Royal Family

The presentation of Japanese food culture at this tournament was curated by Masayuki Terada (Shokujyu Maro), a Japanese foodie. Under his direction, who has previously handled the food and beverage program for the tournament, leading Japanese restaurants were selected to form this initiative.

Additionally, at the pre-event reception held at the renowned London restaurant "Mosimann's," a special course was served by these esteemed Japanese establishments, cohesively expressing the diversity of Japanese food culture.

Mosimann's is a venerable institution that has catered to events related to the British Royal Family and royal weddings. The inclusion of Japanese cuisine on its stage was a symbolic moment, highlighting the high international regard for Japanese food culture.

On the tournament day, in an area adjacent to the competition grounds, artisans from Torishiki ICHIMON, including Yoshiteru Ikegawa, stood at the grills and served yakitori, prepared using the traditional "close-range, high-heat" technique, in a lively presentation. Two types were offered: "Kashiwa (thigh)" and "Kata (wingette)."

Attracted by the savory aroma, a queue of attendees formed in front of the tent. Visitors, including actors and models from Japan and abroad, savored the yakitori. Approximately 250 skewers were prepared and sold out, garnering significant interest and praise.

This marked Torishiki ICHIMON's first venture into Europe, serving as an initiative to demonstrate that yakitori, a unique Japanese food culture, can be accepted as an experiential value on an international stage.

The brand will continue to promote experiential value worldwide, encompassing respect for ingredients, grilling techniques, and the aesthetic beauty created by the artisans' movements.
