LINE Manga Original Webtoon 'En no Tegami' Animation Film Set for Autumn 2026 Release in Japan!

LINE Digital Frontier Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Masataka Takahashi) is pleased to announce that the animated film adaptation of the original webtoon work 'En no Tegami' (Author: HYEONA CHO), available on the electronic comic service 'LINE Manga' https://manga.line.me/ will be released in Japan in Autumn 2026.

'En no Tegami' is an original webtoon work from 'LINE Manga' that tells a heartwarming story of a protagonist who, having suffered emotional wounds, discovers mysterious letters at their new school, leading to encounters with new friends and personal growth. Despite being only 10 episodes long, the work has been praised for its lyrical art style, colors, and unique direction.

The theatrical film, based on this work (English title: Your Letter/Original title: 연의 편지), is a talked-about production where Comix Wave Films, the animation studio behind Makoto Shinkai's works such as 'Your Name.' and 'Suzume', is handling the distribution of its first overseas theatrical animation project. The visual adaptation was helmed by rising director Kim Young-hwan, who has recorded over 150 million total views with the YouTube short animation series 'A Day Before Us'. Although this is his first feature-length directorial work, he has masterfully blended delicate psychological depiction, beautiful art backgrounds down to the finest details, and poetic visual expression to create a fresh and mysterious youth story. It has already received acclaim in South Korea, where the film was released, with praise such as 'The best anime of my life' and 'The new possibility of K-animation,' becoming a major hit that surpassed 220,000 admissions shortly after its release and has been loved by many audiences.

This highly anticipated work is finally set to land in Japan. Titled 'En no Tegami' (Reading: えんのてがみ), it is scheduled for nationwide release in Autumn 2026 at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters.

Furthermore, in anticipation of the film's release, a teaser visual and a Japanese version trailer have been unveiled.

The teaser visual captures the mysterious figure of the girl, Sori, reading a letter alone amidst greenery, with the tagline 'I was lonely forever. Until I met this miracle,' condensing the world of the work into a single image. The Japanese version trailer, featuring the theme song 'Your Letter' sung by Lee Su-hyun of the popular Korean group AKMU, boldly depicts how Sori's world begins to shine, guided by the letters at her new school. It is an emotional visual that foreshadows a 'miraculous encounter'.
