Edure LCA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director and School Principal: Norio Yamaguchi) announced that LCA Kitakaru Mori International (Naganohara Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture), which it operates, will hold its first 'LCA Kitakaru Mori International Summer School 2026' in the summer of 2026, since its opening. Applications are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 25, 2026.
LCA Kitakaru Mori International campus opened in April 2026.
This summer school is a special program for children aged 5 to elementary school sixth graders, with the theme of English x STEAM x Inquiry. In an international educational environment surrounded by the rich nature of Kitakaruizawa, children will not 'learn' English, but rather think, experience, and communicate in English, thereby fostering the thinking skills, creativity, and communication skills necessary for the future.
'Learning' required in a new era, from the rich nature of Kitakaruizawa
In an era of advancing AI and globalization, the abilities required of children are not just memorizing knowledge. The ability to ask questions, think, solve problems collaboratively with peers, and convey one's own ideas amidst diverse values is becoming increasingly important.
LCA Kitakaru Mori International is a new bilingual school that opened in April 2026. It practices education that fosters children's independence and creativity by integrating English immersion education and inquiry-based learning.
This summer school combines the English education know-how that LCA has cultivated over many years with experiential inquiry programs, and in the nature-rich land of Kitakaruizawa, it offers a summer vacation with substantial learning that is more than just 'fun'.
Learn living English in the great outdoors
Program Overview
Kitakaru Mori International Summer School will implement different programs during the following three periods:
Session 1: STEAM ACADEMY
Dates: Wednesday, July 22, 2026 – Friday, July 24, 2026
This is a STEAM-type program that interdisciplinarily learns Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Children will set their own hypotheses, conduct experiments, observations, and verifications on familiar questions and phenomena, and challenge problem-solving. By thinking, trying, and presenting in collaboration with peers in English, they will foster inquiry and creativity.
Session 2: TRUTH SEEKERS Part 1
Dates: Tuesday, July 28, 2026 – Thursday, July 30, 2026
Session 3: TRUTH SEEKERS Part 2
Dates: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 – Thursday, August 6, 2026
TRUTH SEEKERS is an inquiry-based program that aims to find 'truth' through observation, analysis, and reasoning.
Sessions 2 and 3 are separate programs with different themes and content.
Children will challenge given missions using English, organize information, form hypotheses, and discuss with peers to solve problems. They will experience immersive learning that emphasizes 'how to think' and 'how to communicate' rather than memorizing correct answers.
Learning only possible at LCA Kitakaru Mori International
A major appeal of this summer school is that the nature of Kitakaruizawa itself becomes the learning field.
In a quiet environment surrounded by forests, children's five senses and curiosity are stimulated through a sense of openness and real experiences that cannot be obtained in urban areas.
In addition, to ensure that even children who are beginners in English can participate with peace of mind, small classes will be organized according to English proficiency and age.
This is not a 'program for children who are good at English', but a 'summer school for all children who want to challenge new learning using English'.
